I always invest in Westpac term deposits as their rates are always competitive and access is easy. However, I often experience problems with them failing to carry out my instructions accurately (eg they will re-invest the principal plus interest when I have requested the principal only be re-invested). Having said that, they are very quick to correct any mistakes but of course you don't get re-imbursed for any interest you may have missed out on during the interim period.

Westpac failed to advise me that the investment had concluded on my 65 birthday. They advised me approximately 12 months after that date. I lost over $15,000.00 because of the reduction in value of the investment. Unbeknown to me WESTPAC transferred the invested money to the Australian Tax Office without advising me of this action. At no time did WESTPAC advise me of the requirement to claim the money on my birthday. I am still trying to have the bank pay the to me the value of the money I lost due to their incompetence and lack of the duty of care.

Westpac are just the best bank. I have had accounts with other banks and still use 1 other bank. Westpac just creams the other banks for the ease of account setup, service and interest paid. Recently I went to Westpac to change my pin but the machine was out of order. I said I would call back next time I was in town to change it about an hour later the teller tried to telephone me on my mobile but could not get me. The teller then found my home number in the phone book and called there, I was not home but she left a message to tell me she had the machine fixed eventually the teller called my work as we had been chatting about the day and she remembered the company that I worked for. I now have my pin changed thanks to her being a honest working person and took notice and interest in thier customer. Today I took my son to Westpac to open his 1st bank account. I did not consider taking him to the bank I have used for 35years. Thank you Westpac, YOUR THE BEST!!!!!

YesI don't like or dislike any bank product. I believe that all the banks are really interested in is how much profit they can make. If they end up helping you out at the same time then that's a bonus. Full review

Having just retired and sold our family home of 35 year to move down the South Coast, it was important to us to find a safe option for our money (particularly with the share market so volatile at the moment). We discussed options with a Westpac staff member and decided that Term Deposits was the way to go until we had a chance to see what our retirement needs would be. They were very helpful and this gave us confidence that our money would be safe and and earning a competitive interest rate.

I left St George because of their poor customer service. They did not notify me when my deposit was going to mature and when I found out by accident they refused to offer me a better interest rate (they just rolled it over). I cancelled the account and the girl barely blinked! Do they want customers with deposits or not? Anyway, Westpac has been amazing by comparison. They also give me the best deal and the one time that I was not notified (they sent the letter to an old address) they made sure I received the best deal. Such a fresh change. They treat their customers fabulously and I will never leave them.
