  After going in with all the right paper-work to get approval, I was told that I would have absolutely no problems to get approval etc and offered an interest rate lower than advertised. I was very impressed- until I decided to apply. The customer service was appalling and the person I had originally spoken with would not take calls or reply to email. I was then told that I was not eligible despite having fulfilled all the requirements. Very unhappy- I was able to get approval from another competitor bank and am very happy. I have also decided to change over all my accounts after this treatment.

  I banked with ANZ for years and several times they failed to process my salary and charged overdrawn fees for their mistake. In addition, I paid off a loan with them in 1992 and went to apply for a car loan in 2000 and because that branch had closed and they had NO records of customer transactions at that bank (LOST) they refused my loan. Even though they did not send me any request or information on that loan. Very poor. I eventually dug up my own records and proved that it had been paid in full but I refused their offer of a car loan and closed all my accounts. Too many mistakes on their part that cost me money, not awesome!

  I have an Equity Manager home loan with ANZ, which is the mortgage for the home and also a line of credit, this is handy for extra purchases both big and small, recently we purchased two new cars and used our line of credit instead of a car loan or personal loan which was much easier, as long as you have enough credit!! The only pitfall is you can easily get carried away and only pay off the interest only, not a good idea!! Also ANZ have a product called Breakfree, for an annual charge of $365 you get fee free banking and a host of other benefits including a reduced interest rate.

  ANZ gives the service I need for we are only pensioners and they don't charge high interest and let you know quickly if something goes wrong and keep our budget on track.       Full review
