Need to borrow some money for a home renovation or DIY do-up? You've got two options with an unsecured personal loan from ANZ - either opt for a variable or a fixed interest rate. On top of the interest rate, there's an ongoing fee which will add to your costs so try to pay off the loan in the least amount of time as possible for your budget.

Key features

The ANZ Personal Loan gives you the choice of a variable or fixed interest rate. What's better will really depend on your money management comfort level. Do you just want to pay a fixed amount each month and be done, or do you want more flexibility so that you can pay off your loan faster and save on interest costs?

Both loans have a $5000 minimum loan amount and $50,000 maximum loan amount and give you the option to choose your repayment term from 1 - 7 years.

What new customers get with the variable rate option:

  • 12.99% interest rate (13.86% comparison rate*)
  • Free extra repayments
  • $0 redraw fee
  • No fee for paying off the loan early

What new customers get with the fixed rate:

  • 10.50% interest rate (11.38% comparison rate*)
  • Set monthly repayments
  • Loan term up to 7 years

Who is it good for

The ANZ Personal Loan is a good choice for anyone looking to borrow some cash to help them pay for something that they need now or very soon - like an updated kitchen or outstanding medical bill - without having to worry about putting an asset like their house or car up as collateral.

Any catches

Keep in mind, with the fixed interest rate version, there's no redraw facility available. So once you've made those extra repayments, they are locked into the loan for good. With the fixed rate loan, if you pay off your loan early, you'll also have to factor in a $300 admin fee and other potential early repayment costs.

WARNING: The Comparison Rate combines the lender's interest rate, fees and charges into a single rate to show the true cost of a personal loan. The comparison rates displayed are calculated based on a loan of $30,000 for a term of 5 years or a loan of $10,000 for a term of 3 years as indicated, based on monthly principal and interest repayments, on a secured basis for secured loans and an unsecured basis for unsecured loans. This comparison rate applies only to the example or examples given. Different amounts and terms will result in different comparison rates. Costs such as redraw fees or early repayment fees, and cost savings such as fee waivers, are not included in the comparison rate but may influence the cost of the loan.

Latest reviews of ANZ Unsecured Personal Loan

  • Overall 3/10
    Disappointing customer service, nil loyalty.

As a pensioner I went to discuss a personal loan. Over many years I have had several ANZ loans. All these loans were paid out prior to the due date. No problems. I have no other debts owing no-one or nothing. I was told that I could not access a loan. The whole process went for over an hour, customer service was non-existent. ANZ has over the years made incredible mistakes with my credit cards (when I had them) in which they admitted liability and offered me sums of monies as a 'good will' action. Very disappointing overall.
