  They are ok for just a home loan, rates and a redraw account etc., but you need to put all your cash in there. There the service stops, no 24hr call centre help, the only time I got near a branch was when on holiday in Brisbane, not sure if they have any branches - more like a twig of a service - so I have to run a second a/c for emergencies.   Back in 2006 when I first got my mortgage, they seemed fairly competitive in terms of pricing. However over the course of 3 years, their service quickly deteriorated. Refinancing was the best decision I ever made. However they "lost" the paperwork...       Full review 

  Back in 2006 when I first got my mortgage, they seemed fairly competitive in terms of pricing. However over the course of 3 years, their service quickly deteriorated. Refinancing was the best decision I ever made. However they "lost" the paperwork that was sent to them by ANZ, which delayed refinancing for a month and therefore incurred more costs as they charged for an extra month of repayments.   The people I have dealt with in customer service are all helpful and a credit to to them. However, this bank has taken side in a divorce, very unprofessional. I was locked out of my account by my ex. They chose not to inform me that the action was taking place and order their customer service manager to not inform me. As a result I was left without funds for a number of weeks. Very unprofessional. Do not even consider using these people for your mortgage.

  Initially it's great but when you want to extend the loan it is a bigger rigmarole that the original loan. This is a pain as both our extensions have been for immediate purchases.       Full review

  They are quite easy to deal with, even though they are based in Qld.. Sometimes there is a delay of 24 hours in transferring money to another account, but their (no frills) rates more than compensate for this.       Full review

  Not a lot of product choice but good rates and I can use the debit Visa overal loan does what I need. Internet banking is simple and easy. Wife dislikes dealing with service staff and deals with Admin person for help.       Full review

  Obviously not a regular big bank but so much better. I've had loans with all the main 4 banks but Firstmac's service, fees and charges and rates are just the best. I only heard of them through my finance broker and I was a little bit hesitant at first but so happy I used them. I had my loan approved weeks quicker than any of my friends with much less stress.   Generally OK, they were pleasant to deal with at first and we settled on the loan purely as the banks tend to add on features not really needed and charge for them but the support is a bit unpredictable. Customer service might be good one day but ...       Full review 

  Generally OK, they were pleasant to deal with at first and we settled on the loan purely as the banks tend to add on features not really needed and charge for them but the support is a bit unpredictable. Customer service might be good one day but bad the next and also you have to confirm details with them as they have gotten details wrong so just be aware accuracy is an issue with them which might pose a prob later down the track.

Their service was terrific all the way - loan was all approved in less than a week - valuation everything!! and they don't have any ongoing fees and a much better rate than all of my friends!   My loan was sold to FirstMac by HSBC and I had no choice and I lost all my convenience as there's no product choices so its a basic loan. My loan was then sold to a company called salsforce who own Firstmac and they are by far worse in terms of service and reliability.I wasnt even allowed to speak to a complaints person when they stuffed up my salary credit not once but twice! No apology nothing and yet the person I spoke with agreed it was their error and he was supposedly a Leader! Terrible experiences.

  When I first dealt with FirstMac back in 2006 they were so incredibly friendly and helpful and requests were done quick such as our extra cash for bathroom reno. What a difference now, on calling customer service you are met with very young kids who generally cannot answer basic questions or provide variations of facts and are rude when you ask to many questions, its like they are defensive. When dealing with the sales team again they sound so inexperienced and unprofessional. I cant wait to leave.

  The service at FirstMac was just crazy and my only thought is that their staff have no idea who they work for and what their products are. I had a negative experience where the sales rep who dealt with my questions seemed very confused and standoffish about their products (could not distinguish between FirstMac and another product called Asure) and I was sent on a round-Robbin chase for about 20 minutes. Finally, I just gave up and called Commonwealth who gave a great rate and all was sorted in 15 minutes.

Also the service is just so inconsistent and they just don't sound very confident. In fact we could call with the same question 5 times and get a different answer and in some cases the person we call cannot even answer and seems almost distracted or doesn't care.
