When we applied for our personal loan, Westpac was extremely helpful and gave us their full attention as to what and how much we were looking for, also when we wanted to increase our loan they were also very cooperative. The interest rate in our opinion was very favourable.

The person in the bank responsible for loans said we would be able to borrow up to $75000 based on our current financial situation. Head Office however declined to even lend us $25000!!! Very poor communications between Head Office and Branches.

The bank just gave us a loan without making sure we could afford the repayment.
And they should have closed all the credit cards so we could not get into more debt.
Now its hard to buy food and medications the dogs eat better than us.

When I was desperate to refinance my personal loan, Westpac was the one who quickly processed my application and offered a very low interest rate by comparison to Commonwealth and NAB who were both 3-4% higher and very slow to process the application. Westpac had the whole application processed within 2 days.

When they discuss a personal loan they explain it in laymans language so you know exactly what you are getting and the rates, they also help with cutting bank fees etc. They have been very helpful and treat you like you are a valuable customer when you walk into the bank.

The product does not stack up against what the other big bank are offering, plus one of the major downfalls for Westpac is the overall lack of Customer Service.
If you're big on your bank looking after you, don't go anywhere near WESTPAC.

I do not like the fact that they are always one of the first banks to raise interest rates and one of the last to lower them. Their customer service is pretty good especially with the credit card attached to our loan.
