Would not recommend to get home loan from them. The customer service is very slow. After 6 weeks, they have not approved anything, whereas the big four bank approved me within a week. The lender was also quite offensive at times. He actually told me ‘I don’t want to waste my time on you… “ after knowing that I am getting quotes from other banks as well. I mean, their rate isn’t the best so of course I should ask around and not just to stick to one bank. Overall very disappointed. It’s supposed to be elite service for certain professions. I would not recommend people going with this bank for home loan.
I financed land which went well. For our construction loan I have been passed through 5 different “specialists” and there have been multiple hold ups and errors with valuations and paperwork. We still don’t have the loan and have been told it won’t be looked at even for 2 weeks as they have a back log of applications. I contacted them via email and phone multiple times with no reply as my builder wants to start building! My broker also has had the run around. I am going to refinance and am fed up. A big waste of my time and money.
We were given a second mortgage for an investment property that in hindsight we probably couldn't afford. The second property was secured by the first property and also mortgage insurance because we apparently only had enough equity in the first property to provide a 10% deposit. Surprisingly the valuations on both properties gave us exactly enough equity to purchase the second property. The loan on the second property was also set up on interest only for the first 5 years. We are now in a situation where we can't sell either property until they are both mortgage free apparently. Very manipulative and deceptive, avoid if possible.
Laila at BOQ, MCQ is very professional, thorough, easy to reach etc. Can't thank her enough. At the time when we first met Laila for our Mortgage Loan, we were under incredible amount of pressure from misguidance from our Mortgage Broker. At that point, with less than a 10 days to settlement, we almost given up hope of buying our home. Laila then took care of everything and sorted everything for us in such a short span of time (when everything everywhere was getting closed/delayed/postponed due to Covid-19) and made us meet the tight deadlines and made the whole experience for us stress free, relaxed. We cannot thank her enough for this. We would absolutely go back to Laila, BOQ (of course at the beginning itself) next time and will definitely recommend her for all of our friends, colleagues etc.
The service level from our local branch is excellent and we know many of the team members. We trust them to give us the best advice and work to get the best deal for us.
Local managers are friendly but it's impossible to get a competitive interest rate as an existing customer. Their website functionality is also poor.
Should be higher interest on bank accounts and a bonus for having multiple accs
