I have found Westpac to be the best bank for students; they offer a fee-free savings account and you can get a free debit card. Card transaction fees are minimal, or even free, if you use a credit transaction. There are so many convenient ATM locations available - they are also combined with Bank SA allowing you to access their ATM's with no charge giving you double the locations. Not a lot, really, but too hard to change, and most banks are mostly the same anyhow. The bank is really only looking after the shareholder. The bank managers are getting too much money for what they do.
