Now in their ninth year, the Mozo Experts Choice Awards present an opportunity to highlight products in the market we believe offer great value to Australians.
For the 2022 Broadband awards, we assessed 195 retailers of home connections listed on the NBNCo website.
“Sorting through all the options to find a great value plan for your home internet has always been a challenge. And with new retailers popping up and new connection options becoming available, that task gets harder all the time,” said Mozo Experts Choice Awards Judge Peter Marshall.
“We have expanded our awards this year to run our ruler over the latest super fast plans and 5G home Broadband, on top of the many standard NBN plans to find the best value options no matter what your needs.”
For details on how we crunched the numbers and determined our winners, see the 2022 Mozo Experts Choice Broadband Awards methodology report.
We couldn’t have a name like the Mozo Experts Choice Awards without a dedicated and experienced team of product data analysts at the helm. Combined they have decades of experience behind them. Meet them below.
There isn’t one single best or cheapest Broadband plan for everyone, but there is going to be the most suitable plan for your individual needs. This is why we’ve reviewed available Broadband plans based on a range of criteria such as the amount of data included in the plan, and the Broadband speed.
There are six main Broadband speeds worth considering - Standard, Standard Plus, Fast, Super Fast, Ultra Fast and Creator. The speed that you will need for your home will depend on the number of devices you have, and the things you’ll be doing on those devices like gaming, streaming movies, joining video calls or just browsing the internet.
The peak hours of home internet usage are between 7pm and 11pm. As this is the busiest time for the network, the typical evening speed is a much more accurate indicator of how fast your internet will be, rather than the maximum speed available on your plan.
Running since 2014, the Mozo Experts Choice Awards recognise products that deliver exceptional value or benefits to consumers. See our Mozo Experts Choice Broadband Awards methodology report for detailed information on how we performed product comparisons and determined the final winners for 2022.
In carrying out the Mozo Experts Choice Awards for Broadband we assessed 195 retailers providing home connections that were listed on the NBNCo website in April, 2022. Retailers servicing a limited geographic area were excluded, as were plans for businesses. There were 79 retailers that met the minimum support hours criteria.
We aim to include most Broadband providers in the Mozo Experts Choice Awards, but not every product on the market will be included in our review. Any product we review must be available in the market at the time of our analysis.
For the Mozo Experts Choice Awards, we compared the Broadband plan options based on our key criteria and this is what we highlight on this page. Some of the Broadband plans listed will have more options available or allow you to add on more data for an extra cost.
The Mozo Experts Choice Awards are overseen by AJ Duncanson and Peter Marshall. AJ is Mozo’s Data Director, a data scientist and actuary who has worked in financial services and product comparison for over 30 years. Peter has been in the industry even longer, and as Research Manager he leads the team of analysts that gather information and compare products every day, and perform all the calculations behind the Mozo Experts Choice Awards.
