FAQs about the Logie Awards
What are the Logies Awards?
First started in 1959, the TV Week Logies Awards is an iconic award show which celebrates the achievements of actors and other people who work in the Australian television industry. It’s essentially Australia’s version of the USA’s Emmy Awards.
The Logies consist of a red carpet event followed by the official awards ceremony attended by loads of Australian stars and celebrities.
But why are the Logies called the ‘Logies’?
Good question! Legendary Aussie entertainer Graham Kennedy actually suggested the name upon winning the first-ever “Gold Logie” award, which at the time was named the “Star of the Year Award”. Kennedy proposed the name in honour of John Logie Baird, who invented the television.
