Victorians pay more in car insurance, finds Mozo research

When it comes to car insurance, Victorians pay on average $229 more than the rest of Australia. That’s according to Mozo’s 2020 Car Insurance Report. The same report also revealed that 74% of drivers in the garden state are using their wheels less than this time last year.
Car insurance premiums differ dramatically by state
While Victorians pay the most for car insurance, it was discovered that their neighbours across the pond pay the least. In fact, with an average yearly premium of $752, Tasmanian drivers pay around $200 less than the rest of the country. Plus $429 less than Victorian drivers, who pay an average of $1,181.

Shopping around could save Aussies money
Besides the difference between average car insurance premiums for each state, Mozo also found a significant gap between the most and least expensive premium quotes from different insurers.
In Victoria, the difference between the most and least expensive car insurance quotes for the same customer was a huge $1,168. This suggests that Aussies could save a heap of dollars, simply by gathering and comparing quotes from multiple insurers.
