Australia’s Best Value Energy Plans & Providers revealed, as Energy Locals dominates in Green Electricity

Today, Mozo is excited to announce the winners of the Mozo Experts Choice Awards for Energy 2025, celebrating the best value electricity and gas providers for both residential and small business plans across Australia. With electricity and gas prices rising, and current energy bill rebates only a temporary solution, Mozo’s awards can help Australians find affordable plans, to help soften the blow when rebates end.

“Australians face rising energy costs, and while the Energy Bill Relief Fund offers temporary support, it’s critical to look into the true cost of your energy plan before the relief ends next year, and see if you can get a better deal,” says Peter Marshall, Mozo Experts Choice Awards judge.

Uncovering the best value from thousands of energy plans

As part of the award judging process, Mozo experts compared the prices and features of 3,480 energy plans from 36 providers, to find which electricity and gas plans and energy providers offered the best value for Australians. The extensive analysis included reviewing 824 electricity plans from 31 providers and 322 gas plans from 13 providers for business customers, and 1,637 electricity plans from 36 providers and 697 gas plans from 19 providers for residential customers.

Energy plans were evaluated based on cost effectiveness, available discounts, and commitment to green energy options, and winners were determined across states including NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the contestable market in SE Queensland - where consumers had a choice in energy provider. 

Energy Locals named Australia’s Best Green Electricity Provider

With sustainability top-of-mind, Mozo also recognised providers making strong commitments to renewable energy, awarding the best value green electricity and solar friendly plans. The Mozo Experts Choice Judges separated solar friendly electricity plans and green electricity plans to meet varying consumer needs. 

Solar friendly winners offer the best value for customers with solar panels by factoring in the latest feed-in tariffs and grid electricity costs to ensure accuracy. Green electricity plans, on the other hand, were awarded to providers with the cheapest plans offering 100% GreenPower and no involvement in fossil fuel extraction or generation.

“The winners list highlights the best value energy plans, in states where energy markets are competitive, as well as those that stand out for their green electricity offerings,” says Marshall. 

“Green electricity and solar friendly plans are becoming increasingly popular for households and businesses as we transition to renewables, so we included categories to support Australians who want cleaner energy solutions and those who want to avoid any involvement in fossil fuels.”

Energy Locals has been named Australia’s Best Green Electricity Provider after winning in every state for both residential and small business green electricity categories. With its consistent leadership in green energy offerings, Energy Locals was the standout performer across both markets.
