Things are heating up: Mozo names the top energy providers for 2026

Today, Mozo is pleased to announce this year’s top energy retailers in the Mozo Experts Choice Awards for Energy, celebrating the best value electricity and gas providers for both residential and small business customers across Australia. Given the constant need for consumers and businesses to find savings, Mozo’s rigorous analysis provides clear guidance to finding the most affordable energy plans available.

The awards recognise retailers offering the best value plans across each state in Electricity, Gas, Solar-friendly Electricity, and Green Electricity.

Uncovering the Best Value from Thousands of Energy Plans

To determine the winners for 2026, Mozo experts analysed 3,055 energy plans from 37 energy retailers across 9 award categories. The analysis identified the cheapest energy options across different usage levels in every distributor area.

The winning products were those providing the cheapest energy at the time of judging, factoring in both single rate and time of use tariffs, as well as guaranteed and conditional discounts for factors such as paying on time or direct debit.

For those prioritising renewable energy, Green Electricity awards were assigned to the cheapest plans in each state that offer 100% GreenPower and are provided by companies that are not involved in, or owned by a company involved in, the extraction of or power generation from coal, gas or oil.
