Money saving tip:

Never underestimate the power of comparing your options. Whether you’re refinancing your home loan, switching credit cards, stashing some savings in a term deposit or doing your weekly shop, taking a little time to compare can save you hundreds, if not thousands, in the long run. This could mean the difference between spending your next holiday at home in front of the box or trekking the majestic Rif Mountains of Morocco (or wherever you desire to go).

What inspired you to pursue financial journalism?

I’ve always been passionate about understanding how money impacts people’s lives. Growing up, my mother was an accountant. From an early age I learnt how financial literacy could empower people to avoid debt and make their money work for them. Writing for a platform like Mozo allows me to break down those knowledge barriers by presenting useful news, guides and product reviews that resonate with everyday Australians.

What's the most innovative trend in finance right now?

The rise of open banking is incredibly exciting! Essentially, it allows you to share your data with big banks, smaller lenders and up-and-coming fintech companies so that you can get the best possible deal when it comes to your personal finances. It’s reshaping how consumers interact with financial institutions, fostering competition, and giving individuals more control over their data. You'll receive tailored products, relevant rates and personalised deals. I believe we’re just scratching the surface of its potential and I’m keen to explore this revolution for Mozo’s readers.

How do you stay informed about trends in the financial world?

I’m a voracious reader! I like to stay up to date with local and international financial news and reports. I also test out new fintech tools and platforms to understand how they work and how they can help consumers. Talking to colleagues, friends and family is also a great way to discover new developments – depending on their age, personality and circumstances, they may be able to offer ideas, insights and perspectives that you may not have considered.

Do you have any special qualifications or awards?

I hold a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in journalism, from Western Sydney University, and I’m currently completing ACCC RG146 financial industry compliance training. I also have a certificate of registration in real estate. These qualifications have been essential in broadening my expertise and ensuring my content reflects the latest industry standards and best practices.
