Bendigo, ING and Amex among Australia’s favourites in 2020 Mozo People’s Choice Awards

For the 11th year running, Australians have rated their favourite banks and providers as part of the 2020 Mozo People’s Choice Awards

Released today, the 2020 winners were based on the results of a recent Ipsos survey, commissioned by Mozo, which measured the thoughts and attitudes of 3,690 Australians on a host of different areas, including banking services.

Unlike the Mozo Experts Choice Awards which are judged by our team of in-house experts, the People’s Choice Awards are based solely on the thoughts of everyday Australians, with opinions sought on everything from customer service to levels of trust.

“Because the People’s Choice Awards are based on real opinions, they’re a great way to showcase what Australians actually think of their banks and financial institutions, free of any marketing or advertising spin,” said Mozo Banking Expert, Peter Marshall.

So without further ado, here are some of 2020’s standout winners for banking services.

Bendigo Bank

Awards: Customer Satisfaction - Bank Accounts, Customer Satisfaction - Credit Cards, Excellent Customer Service, Highly Trusted, Most Recommended and Outstanding Customer Satisfaction

Winners in six of the seven categories available, perennial People’s Choice favourite Bendigo Bank proved popular with Australians yet again in our 2020 awards.

While it’s hard to highlight just a single success, Bendigo were just one of two winners in the Customer Satisfaction - Bank Accounts category in which Australians were asked to assess how they felt about their transaction accounts (which are often their main point of contact with their bank).

Bendigo’s People’s Choice Awards add to a recent victory in the 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Banking Apps & Technology Awards for Excellent Banking App.

ING

Awards: Customer Satisfaction - Bank Accounts, Most Recommended, Outstanding Customer Satisfaction and Mobile Banking Experience

Online bank ING are no strangers to the Mozo People’s Choice Awards and they’ve certainly left an impression with Aussies again by taking out awards in four categories this year.

In addition to wins for customer satisfaction and mobile banking experience, ING were named winners in the Most Recommended category. This is where Aussies were asked how likely they would be to recommend a bank to a friend or colleague based on their own experience.

The People’s Choice Awards will only bolster ING’s trophy cabinet further, with the online bank having already picked up a host of 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Awards for its bank account and home loan products.

Bank Australia

Awards: Highly Trusted and Most Recommended

A multi-award winner in 2019, Bank Australia have backed up their success from last year by taking out two Mozo People’s Choice Awards in 2020.

Among its accolades, Bank Australia picked up an award in the Highly Trusted category where customers were asked to rate the ‘Trustworthiness of banks to treat you fairly and follow through on promises’.

Bank Australia’s has already had a very successful start to the year, having already been named a double 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Home Loan Award winner for best First Home Buyer Loan and Best Green Home Loan.

People’s Choice Credit Union

Awards: Most Recommended and Outstanding Customer Satisfaction

People’s Choice Credit Union (PCCU) has built on its success from last year by taking home two 2020 Mozo People’s Choice Awards.

In the Outstanding Customer Satisfaction category survey participants were asked to rate the ‘Overall Satisfaction with your experience with this bank’, with PCCU named as one of the most popular institutions in this area.

It’s not just everyday Australians that the customer-owned institution has impressed recently though, as PCCU has already picked up a 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Award for its business savings account.

American Express

Awards: Customer Satisfaction - Credit Cards

They may be a credit card giant, but that hasn’t stopped American Express from being named one of Australia’s favourites in the 2020 Mozo People’s Choice Awards.

For a second year running, Amex picked up an award in the Customer Satisfaction - Credit Cards category where survey respondents were asked to rate their overall satisfaction with their credit card.

In addition to its People’s Choice Award win, American Express has been crowned the Mozo Experts Choice Award Credit Card Provider of the Year for three consecutive years.

Bank of Queensland

Awards: Excellent Customer Service

Fresh off a host of wins for its savings accounts in the 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Savings Account Awards, the Bank of Queensland (BOQ) has been recognised once again, this time by the Australian public.

BOQ was named a 2020 Mozo People’s Choice Award winner in the Excellent Customer Service category in which survey respondents were asked to rate their bank’s customer service - whether it be online, via email, over the phone or face to face in a branch.
