Who’s top dog? Mozo experts reveal the top pet insurers in 2025

Today, leading financial comparison site Mozo, revealed the ‘top dogs’  in the Mozo Experts Choice Pet Insurance Awards for 2025, highlighting the best value and highest quality pet insurance policies.

Mozo’s experts reviewed 243 policies from 37 pet insurers for the 2025 awards, looking at both cats and dogs across a range of ages and breeds..

“Pet insurance can provide Aussie pet parents  a level of comfort, knowing that if something were to go wrong, their pets will be taken care of,” said Peter Marshall, Insurance expert and Mozo Experts Choice Awards Judge.

“Finding the right pet insurance can be difficult with so many insurers in the market and so many policy variations based on your pet’s breed and age.This is why the Mozo Experts Choice Awards list is a great place to begin your search. Whether you are looking for an affordable policy or a policy with generous benefits, we’ve crunched the numbers and highlighted the policies and insurers that made the Experts Choice cut,” explained Marshall.

“In fact, we found that picking a Mozo Experts Choice Awards winner could lead to significant savings. For example, consumers could save on average $74.90* on their monthly premium when insuring a 5 year old cavoodle when compared to non winners. That's almost $900 in savings over a year!”

 *This is the average savings of Mozo winning plans for all the accident and illness plans with $0 excess and at least $6,000 of annual benefit limit. Based on quotes collected in June 2025.

Exceptional Value 

Winners in this category are among the best priced policies for a given level of cover. Experts analysed policies for both cats and dogs to find the stand out insurers.

“We analysed hundreds of policy combinations taking into account ages and a variety of breeds for dogs as well as pedigree and non pedigree for cats. We then crunched the numbers to compare policies and truly find the best value policies in Australia," says Marshall.

“Winners of the exceptional quality award offered flexible policies with the most generous benefits. There were many factors that set the winners apart from the rest, these include excess options, annual benefit limit, dental cover and CT scans,” explains Marshall.
