I have held my virgin credit card since 7th of February this year (now 19th May) and I am not happy with the level of service I have been receiving. - I have requested a credit limit of at least $10,000 upon applying for the card, got $7500 instead with good steady income proven. Because of the level of expenses I have I have to keep topping the card up several times a month so I do not run out of credit, something very annoying to do. Although I spend more than the $10k every month that would save me some top ups. I referred this to a CS rep once and nothing ever happened. - I have been unable to log on onto my virgin online account for over 2 months now. After the first 2 weeks using the account my online access simply got blocked (while using the right username & PW) stil no luck. Then in the frustrating process of re-setting the password that I had right at first I was told that I had to get a new internet pin as I had thrown mine away not thinking that was necessary. At the end of the lengthy “online signing up” process you do not know what to keep and what not to keep as there are way too many letters and passwords and pins, etc so I threw away what I thought to be useless and got burnt. Although I had requested for a new internet pin to be sent back then it took 2 MONTHS for the new internet pin to arrive – and yes I had to ask for it twice. Having to top up my card every so often as I have no idea how much credit is left and not knowing when and how much the card is due for I get paranoid. Sure you can always call the friendly customer service (yes they are friendly) but having to wait 40 minutes to be spoken to every time is hard... tried calling them at 12:30am today and it worked, got picked up right away so the trick is watch all them movies on TV and leave the credit card call for when everyone else is sleeping. Unfortunately after going through the process of retrieving the user name I knew and re-setting the password I always had right (and not being able to use my previous password which is extremely frustrating) their website is down and I still cannot log onto my account! I forgot to say that in the process above I had requested a paper statement to be sent (TWICE) and although that only came once that took approximately 15 working days to be sent and not the so called 3-5 working days promised. - At the time of making the application for the card I have also made an application for a supplementary card. You have got to take a form to the post office to indentify yourself, fair enough but 9 weeks after doing this (and chasing this up over the phone at least 3 times) a card is yet to arrive. I liked the possibility of a link with Virgin Airlines. However after using American Express and Mastercard from other providers for many years I now ask myself whether I should ever have applied for the virgin card that so far cost me $350 in fees and a lot of grief. Had I read these reviews online about the card I would have called the ACCC rather than Virgin.

Pro: High interest rate Con: Non-user friendly website, unreliable, false bonus offer, by-the-book customer service I received an email offer to open a Virgin Saver account with competitive interest rate, and a bonus of $50 will be given if I deposited min $1000 per month for 3 consecutive months before 29 Feb 2012. So I opened the account in Nov 2011 and even went further convincing my spouse to open one as well. The bonus was promised to be credited by end of Mar 2012, but no bonus comes into our accounts until mid Apr. So I called, and the Customer Service courteously told me that their back office was closed already, so she would get them check and credit the bonus within 3-5 working days. No news and no bonus came, so I called again 10 days later. The CS said she would ask their team to investigate and I could get the outcome within a week. Still no one called, so I rang again. At first the CS said that the promotion ended on 31 October, but after I mentioned that I had the promotion print-out showing that it ended on 30 Nov, she said she would check again. She came back telling me that the result of their "thorough investigation" was that I was not eligible for the bonus. There is no further explanation why, the result was simply "not eligible". I am disappointed to say the least. Three phone calls, zero call back, zero bonus and zero explanation why. I have followed the requirements for the bonus -- opened the account within the promotion period, and deposited the minimum amount for 3 consecutive months before 29 Feb. So I am eligible for the bonus. I decided to close the account, also my spouse's, and will not consider an offer from Virgin Money anymore.
