CommBank launches new 12 month 0% interest credit card offers

On a mission to find a new credit card but need an extra sweetener to seal the deal? Well the Commonwealth Bank wants a word.

The bank has just launched a limited time offer whereby new credit card applicants will pay 0% interest on their card purchases for the first 12 months, as long as they sign up before April 30, 2019.   

The new offer applies to seven credit cards from the CommBank’s suite, with the Essentials Credit Card being a notable absentee.

Among the participating cards is the 2018 Mozo Experts Choice award-winning Diamond Awards Credit Card, but the full list includes the:

• Awards Credit Card

• Diamond Awards Credit Card

• Low Fee Credit Card

• Low Fee Gold Credit Card

• Low Rate Credit Card

• Low Rate Gold Credit Card

• Platinum Awards Credit Card

While the lure of a 12 month interest-free period on purchases may be tempting, Mozo Director Kirsty Lamont urged new credit card applicants to really do their research before jumping in.

“Avoiding interest for 12 months may seem like an offer too good to refuse, but it’s worth considering whether you’ll be able pay off your balance in full before that offer ends,” she said.

“After all, the last thing you’ll want is a nasty interest surprise in a year’s time, so make sure you’re aware of the interest rate you’ll be paying after the introductory offer expires, as well as any fees you’ll be paying.”
