Could your groceries earn you a free flight this November?

If December is the month of Christmas, November is most certainly the month of rewards points, with both Qantas and Virgin offering shoppers the chance to earn some serious bonus points by converting their rewards points into frequent flyer points.
For the millions of Coles flybuys and Woolworths Rewards cardholders across Australia, November marks what could be the best opportunity of the year to cash in those hard earned points for some free flights.
Aussies with Woolworths Rewards cards have just four days left to take advantage of a 1,000 point bonus offer when you convert your Woolworths Reward points to Qantas Frequent Flyer points by November 5th.
Usually, cardholders are able to convert 2,000 Woolworths points into 870 Qantas Frequent Flyer Points, but with the current offer they’ll be able to get an extra 1,000 Qantas points when they make the exchange.
That means, if you cashed in 28,000 Woolworths Rewards points, and received the 1,000 Qantas point bonus, you’d have enough points to travel from Melbourne to Sydney return in March.

But don’t fear Coles shoppers, because you have the opportunity to convert your hard earned flybuys points into Velocity Frequent Flyer points with a November bonus deal.
Transfer your flybuys points into Velocity Frequent Flyer points before November 30th and you’ll get a 15% bonus. That means instead of the standard 2,000 flybuys points per 870 velocity points earning rate you’d usually get, you’ll receive just over 1,000 velocity points for every 2,000 flybuys points.
If you were to take advantage of the 15% bonus rate you’d need to convert just 16,000 Woolworths rewards points in order to earn a one way Virgin flight from Sydney to Brisbane.
