Is your Home and Contents Insurance policy among the best in Australia?
Today Mozo revealed the results of our inaugural Experts Choice Awards for Home Insurance.
For these awards, our Money Experts looked at 199 home insurance products and sampled 19,000 customers scenarios to find the policies that offer Australians exceptional quality and exceptional value in 2017.
“For many people, their home is their castle, but it’s also the biggest asset they own. Mozo’s extensive research and assessment of home insurance products on the market brings a new level of confidence when seeking out premium quality or premium value home insurance,” said Mozo Director, Kirsty Lamont.
When it comes to home insurance not everyone is after the same type of cover, that’s why we’ve broken down our awards into three categories: home and contents, contents only and home buildings insurance.
Criteria for the Exceptional Quality awards included assessing standard benefits or cover inclusions featured in policies, including accidental damage cover and 24/7 claims. We also assessed how Aussies rated their experience when dealing with their insurer and as well as Ombudsman data on dispute resolution.
To determine the home insurance products that offered exceptional value, we compared policies that were frequently ranked among the best-priced for the features they offer.

One of the big winners for Exceptional Quality was Westpac with its Premier Care Residential Insurance policy, taking out an award for Home and Contents, Contents and Home Buildings Insurance. While Suncorp also have a reason to smile as it received awards for its Classic Extras Home policy in all three categories.
In the low cost awards category, our nation’s supermarket chains were among the policies taking out top honors with Woolworth’s Standard Cover policy awarded for both Home and Contents and Home Buildings Insurance, while Coles received an award for Low Cost Contents Insurance.
