The best home and contents insurance of 2018, revealed
If you’re like most Aussies, your home is your greatest asset - yet as many as 4 in 5 Australians are underinsured. If you’re worried about having to cough up money to replace things if your home is robbed, or to cover fire damage if you leave the stove on, you’ll need to find a home insurance policy that provides great cover.
The good news is, Mozo’s Experts Choice Home Insurance Awards have just landed, helping Aussies find the best policies depending on their needs. Mozo experts have been working hard to compare a total of 125 policies from 36 insurers.
“The Mozo Experts Choice Awards exist to provide Australians with a level of confidence that their home insurance policy is going to cover their most prized possession,” said Mozo Data Manager, Peter Marshall.

“Not everyone is after the same type of cover, which is why which is why the Mozo Experts Choice Awards are split into different categories, including Exceptional Value and Exceptional Quality Awards for both home and contents and contents only insurance.”
Exceptional Value Awards
For the Exceptional Value Awards, winners had to offer some of the cheapest prices for the benefits included.
Winners in the Home and Contents Insurance category included ANZ, APIA, Budget Direct, ING, Youi, RAC and SGIC for their low-cost policies.
As for Contents Only Insurance, Mozo Insurer of the Year Suncorp took out an award, as well as policies from Westpac and RACQ.
“Australians are on the hunt for savings wherever they can find it and our Experts Choice Value Award winners are great for those on a budget who are still seeking a reliable policy,” said Marshall.
Exceptional Quality Awards
In the Exceptional Quality Awards, the Mozo experts were looking at policy coverage, added benefits and the insurers history of disputes to identify policies offering top notch cover. Policies were looked upon favourably if they had 24/7 phone service, available accidental damage cover, underinsurance protection and new for old replacement for the contents of your home, as well as a range of extra features.

The Home and Contents winners included QBE, Suncorp, Westpac, NRMA, SGIO and SGIC, who’s Home Plus Insurance also took out an award in the Value category. Winners in the Contents category were APIA and GIO.
“For some people, quality can’t be compromised, especially when it comes to their home. The Exceptional Quality Awards point Australians to the best comprehensive policies around,” said Marshall.
