This week in banking - We kick off our share trading awards

In this week’s banking recap, we discuss wedding budgets, rewards cards, share trading and more.

Mozo launches share trading awards

This week we rolled out our first ever Mozo Experts Choice Share Trading Awards, and we couldn’t be more chuffed. Our team of in-house experts has done a lot of digging to bring you the best platforms for casual, regular and active traders, as well as the most exceptional share trading apps.

As Mozo Data Manager Peter Marshall put it, “From simple, good value options for people who just make occasional trades, to services geared towards those operating at a more professional level — wherever you're at, Mozo's awards have got you covered.”

How not to break your budget when getting hitched

If you’re planning on tying the knot soon, our thoughts go out to your bank balance. Research from Wedded Wonderland has revealed the average Aussie couple is dishing out a shocking $53,168 for their wedding day.

If that figure has you ready to pull a runner, slow down. We’ve compiled some frugal wedding tips to help you and your partner preserve your budget and make sure you don’t wind up honeymooning in the poor house.

New bonus offers for CommBank rewards credit cards

For those on the fence about getting a rewards credit card, CommBank has just come out with a bunch of bonus offers to help lure you in. These apply across a range of cards, and are available for a limited time only.

Take the Diamond Rewards Card. If you apply by 31 July and spend at least $6,000 by 31 October 2019, you’ll be eligible for 120,000 bonus points. That’ll get you 7 free flights between Sydney and Melbourne, or almost $600 in gift cards.

Score some bonus Velocity Frequent Flyer points this May

Good news for Velocity Frequent Flyer fans: the points transfer promotion is back once again. Participating card holders have until 31 May to earn an extra 25% bonus points when they transfer their rewards points to their Velocity Frequent Flyer account.

Rack up enough points and you could score a number of sweet freebies, like flights or flight upgrades, car hire, hotel accommodation, and discounts at the Velocity Frequent Flyer rewards store.

How to keep your property obsession under wraps

According to a recent study by HSBC, Australians spend more than twice as much time researching property than they do at the gym, and almost three times as much as they spend talking to their parents.

So if your property pastime has crossed over into an unhealthy obsession (and your folks have been wondering why you haven’t called for so long), you might want to step back and take a breather. We’ve put together a to-do list to keep you from wasting your weekends while you’re searching for your next home.

And once you’ve picked out the perfect home, all that’s left to do is find the perfect home loan. Check out the options below, or head over to our home loan comparison page for a look at some quality options.

Mozo may receive payment if you click the products below. We don’t compare the entire market, but you can compare more home loans here.
