Our verdict

RACV’s Home and Contents Insurance is a solid, straightforward policy that works well for everyday Victorians, offering reliable coverage for essentials like fire, theft and storm damage. Besides the cool membership perks, the policy itself doesn’t particularly stand out in many areas, with coverage amounts for most contents right around the average.

While it does include landscaping cover (something not all policies offer) and has a slightly above-average cap of $2,500 for electronic files, it lacks an underinsurance option, and other limits are generally standard.

It’s interesting to note that RACV automatically covers high-value items like jewellery, artwork, and collections up to $2,500 each—quite a bit lower than a few other policies. You have the option to increase this if needed, though it’ll usually involve a bit more paperwork, like itemising each piece and showing proof of ownership. Perhaps this setup signals that RACV’s policy is, after all, really built with the everyday Victorian in mind.

All in all, RACV Home Insurance is a dependable option for Victorian homeowners who want straightforward protection with added value from RACV Membership, including discounts across 3,000+ partners, savings at RACV Resorts, and special offers on travel and shopping.
