One of the most effective ways to keep costs down when you use your QBANK credit card is to take full advantage of the 55 interest free days you’ll have to pay off balances. To do this, you’ll need to remember that the interest free period starts when your statement cycle does - usually at the beginning of the month. That means that if you make purchases later in the month, you’ll have less than 55 days to pay them off before that balance starts attracting interest.
Keep in mind also that to maintain your interest free days, you need to be paying off your entire balance - not just the minimum payment - each month.
If you’re opting for a low rate credit card from QBANK, then the good news is you won’t pay an annual fee. But you will have a few other conditional fees to contend with, including:
- Cash advance fee
- Foreign exchange margin
- Late payment fee
- Duplicate statement fee
- Transaction verification fee
If you can, it’s a good idea to pay off your entire balance each month. That way, you’ll not only get to keep your interest free days for the next month, but it’s also a good way to avoid paying interest entirely.
However, if your budget’s a bit tight and you find yourself just making minimum payments each month, on your QBANK credit card this will be the greater amount of either $25 or 2% of your closing balance. If your entire balance is less than $25, you’ll pay the whole amount as a minimum.
Although you can enquire with QBANK about a balance transfer, their credit cards aren’t really designed for that purpose.
Good news for all the lucky travellers out there! Your QBANK credit card will work anywhere in the world that VISA is accepted. But don’t forget that you’ll pay extra for foreign transactions on your credit card.
It’s also a good idea to let QBANK know you’re travelling before you head off - that way, your card won’t be blocked for suspicious activity when you start using it on Fijian beaches.
Your other options for spending while on the move are outlined in our travel money hub, so head over and find the one to suit you.
Add a little more convenience to your credit card spending by using contactless payment via payWave! PayWave is a VISA system, so you can use any contactless enabled VISA card to make payments this way, including your QBANK credit card.
There are a few simple ways you can make sure your credit card use is as safe as possible, including:
- Keep receipts for your purchases and check them against your credit card statement each month. Look for any unauthorised transactions and report them to QBANK immediately.
- Destroy your old credit cards so they can’t fall into the wrong hands.
- Sign your credit card as soon as you receive it. If you happen to lose your credit card while it's still blank, anyone could sign it and use it to make purchases.
- Don’t write down secure information. PIN, card or member numbers shouldn’t be written down in case someone else finds them.
- Be careful at the ATM. Look for signs of damage to the ATM as this could signify scammers working in the area. Also, keep an eye on your surroundings and keep your PIN hidden at all times.
Aside from this, you can rest easy knowing that QBANK monitor your card for fraudulent activity 24/7 using a fraud management service called ORION. This means that if any suspicious activity comes up on your credit card account, QBANK will contact you ASAP to have it verified. If it does turn out to be fraudulent, they can resolve the issue quickly, and you won’t be liable for any expense.
