Frequently Asked Questions about Unity Bank credit cards

What is the interest free period on my Unity Bank credit card?

When you rack up a balance on your Unity Bank credit card, you’ll have up to 55 days to pay it off before being charged interest. Just remember that these days don’t start when you make a purchase, but rather when your credit card statement cycle begins, which is usually toward the beginning of the month. So if you spend later in the month, you may have less than 55 days before interest begins to be charged.

What fees might I be charged?

When you snag a Unity Bank credit card, the annual fee is waived for the first year, but after that you’ll need to pay it, plus cash advance and foreign exchange fees.

What’s the minimum repayment amount I must make?

Every month you’ll have to make a minimum payment on your credit card balance - although it’s always a good idea to pay off more if you can.

With a Unity Bank credit card, your minimum payment will either be $20 or 2% of your closing balance - whichever is the higher amount. If your total balance is less than $20, then your minimum payment will be the whole amount.

What rewards will I earn with my Unity Bank credit card?

The credit card offering from Unity Bank is designed as a no-frills, no-fuss card, for affordable, convenient spending. Rewards aren’t exactly a priority in that schematic. So there’s no rewards program or freebies attached to your Unity Bank credit card.

If you’re looking for a piece of plastic with some rewards earning power, check out these great rewards cards.

Can I use my Unity Bank credit card for a balance transfer?

Yes - but there’s a catch. With many balance transfer deals, you get a zero interest period to pay off the transferred balance and get your credit card debt under control. Unfortunately, with a balance transfer from Unity Bank, you don’t get this interest free period. You do get an initial period with super low interest - but after that any leftover balance will go back to being charged interest at the usual rate.

If you’re trying to manage credit card debt and you’re after a balance transfer credit card with an interest free period, check out our comparison table for all the best balance transfer deals on the market.

Will my Unity Bank credit card work overseas?

Yes it will. Your Unity Bank is a VISA card, so it will work wherever VISA is accepted - which is mostly anywhere in the world these days.

Just don’t forget to check the foreign exchange rates and account for foreign exchange fees in your travel budget!

Can I use payWave with my Unity Bank credit card?

Definitely. PayWave works on the VISA network, so you can use it to make contactless payments with your Unity Bank on spends under $100.

Check out our guide for more about how contactless payments work.

What can I do to avoid credit card fraud?

Credit cards are a super convenient way to spend, but the flip side is that you’ll need to be aware of the risk of credit card fraud.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to keep your Unity Bank credit card safe. When you use your credit card:

 - Don’t use ATMs that are damaged - that’s often a sign that scammers have been tampering with them.

 - Keep your PIN a secret - don’t share it with anyone or write it down.

 - Make sure you cover your PIN when you use an EFTPOS machine or ATM

 - Keep an eye on your credit card statements. Look for any unusual or suspicious transactions, and if you find something, report it right away.

Unity Bank Visa Credit Card

Very competitive & excellent customer service

I have used this Credit Union as my sole banking facility for over 40 years. During that period, I have not had a single reason to complain. If that is not a good enough recommendation, I don't know what is!

Unity Bank Credit Card
Overall 9/10

This card is great. I've been using it for a few years now. They have now lowered the rate which makes it really good. It's a simple card with no rewards program. Had no problems using the card.
