Terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits may apply to any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. These terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits could affect the level of benefits and cover available under any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. Please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement and the Target Market Determination on the provider's website for further information before making any decisions about an insurance product.

Any information provided on this page should be considered a summary and general advice only. All information should be verified before purchase via the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is included in a World2Cover Travel Insurance policy?

What’s covered by a World2Cover policy will depend on which coverage level you choose, and if you opt-in (for a fee) for any optional extras on top of the standard inclusions. Below is a list of the categories you can expect coverage as standard for across all of the World2Cover international policies.

But remember: check Mozo’s data fields or the World2Cover PDS for details on pay-out limits for specific areas across the Basics, Essentials and Top Cover options.

On top of these, the Essentials and Top packages also provide coverage for the cost associated with:

As the highest coverage level, the Top Cover option can also cover costs associated with:

Does World2Cover Travel Insurance have Covid-19 cover?

World2Cover offers limited insurance for events related to Covid-19, but this is only available when you take out a Top Cover policy. It includes cover for emergency medical and hospital expenses and cancellations if you or your travelling companion is diagnosed with Covid-19. There’s also limited cover for additional expenses and travel delays that are the direct result of a Covid-19 outbreak.

The combined limits for cancellations fees, lost deposits, additional expenses, special events and, travel delay is limited to $3,500 per adult.

Each subsection of World2Cover’s Covid-19 insurance has detailed terms, conditions and sublimits that may impact the validity of your claim. Be sure to review the terms and conditions to know exactly what's covered in the PDS if you do need to make a COVID-19 related claim.

What optional extras can I add to my World2Cover policy?

Some of the optional extras or add-ons offered by World2Cover can be attached depending of your policy benefits level. When you are covered for luggages this includes items you plan to bring on your trip like cameras, laptops, phones, golf clubs and even dental prosthesis. There are specific dollar limits that each item will be covered for, and this increases with each coverage level.

Then if you take out an Essentials Cover or Top Cover package, you can also add on cover for equipment and events related specifically to skiing and other specified winter sports. This optional extra comes as a package and can cover costs if you face a piste closure or bad weather. And then there's the all-important overseas medical cover. This is unlimited per dollar value benefit (limits and sub-limits may apply) and compulsory if you want to be covered for an overseas trip.

Just remember, adding on extras to any policy will increase your premium.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under World2Cover Travel Insurance?

World2Cover has a list of pre-existing medical conditions which it covers automatically. These include things like: coeliac disease, cataracts, asthma, epilepsy and diabetes. However, many of these conditions come with specific requirements you need to meet before you get covered. For example, someone with asthma can only be covered if they are under 60 and don't have a lung disease, while an epileptic must not be on more than one anticonvulsant or have changed medications in the last 12 months.

For non-automatically included conditions, you can get a medical assessment and may still be able to take out cover.

Pregnancy is also considered a pre-existing condition. Only limited cover is available and this is to assist with costs related to unexpected complications before the 26th week of pregnancy, or childbirth before the 26th week accelerated by accidental injury.

You'll usually need to go through a medical assessment to get covered if your pregnancy is 'complicated'.

Then there are other conditions or medical circumstances that mean you won't be able to take out a World2Cover policy. This includes if you've been advised not to travel by a doctor, if you're awaiting surgery of medical treatment, or if you have a condition involving alcohol or drug dependency.

Make sure you read your PDS carefully if you're planning to travel with a pre-existing condition.

What sporting activities will be covered?

If you're an active traveller, you'll want to make sure you have coverage when playing sport or a number of other activities while travelling. A World2Cover policy will protect you in a number of adventurous circumstances, please have a look at the PDS to see if the sport you intend to practice is included in the cover chosen.

For example, to be covered for most snow sports you'll need to take out the add-on package and, to be covered while hiking or trekking, you'll need to stay below 3,000 metres (other conditions apply). You can only be covered for activities like bungee jumping, go-karting, canyoning or scuba diving if they're run by a commercial operator that's open to the general public and doesn't require any specific skills or fitness levels.

Make sure to always read the fine print for any activities you'll be taking part in because there may be specific conditions that could make a future claim unsuccessful. For example, if you were skiing while racing in a timed event.

What exclusions are there to look out for in a World2Cover Travel Insurance policy?

While World2Cover policies provide coverage across a range of areas, there are few circumstances where your policy will not pay out on a claim. While this is not an exhaustive list of exclusions, a few examples include but are not limited to:

What do I do if there is an emergency during my trip?

If there's a medical overseas emergency on your trip it's best to immediately contact World2Cover's 24/7 phone line where they will provide you with assistance. Getting in touch as soon as possible will help you to collect all the documents needed for your future claim as you can get assurance by World2Cover that the steps that you take in seeking medical treatment or other assistance follow the correct process.

In most countries you call +61 2 8055 1683 (reverse charges will be accepted). In Japan, call the toll-free 0800-800-9117 or if mobile access is restricted the local number is 03 6228 5881.

How do I make a claim with World2Cover Travel Insurance?

To kick start any claim you'll want to call or email World2Cover's claims department as soon as possible and submit the full details of your claim within 30 days of returning from your trip. When you start the process, you'll want to make sure you have the requisite information, which will depend on the type of claim you're making.

Let’s go through what these details might include for different claim types:

Medical and dental emergencies

Luggage or personal money claims:

Emergency expenses or travel delays

World2Cover assessment will be based on your policy terms and conditions and individual facts and circumstances.

Is it possible to cancel my World2Cover Travel Insurance policy?

If you decide World2Cover travel insurance is not for you after all, there are two avenues for cancelling. The first is the easiest: you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund if you do so within 21 days after purchasing the policy (so as long as you haven't started your trip or made a claim).

You can still cancel outside the 21 days cooling off but it's up to World2Cover to assess the circumstance of the request and determine whether any amount will be refunded to you.

Note on the term 'unlimited': Unlimited means that generally there is no cap on the maximum dollar amount which may be paid out of the benefit, subject to the specific terms and conditions, and sub-limits and exclusion apply to this benefit.
