Key features

On the surface, the 28 Degrees Platinum Mastercard is a pretty standard credit card. It comes with no annual fee, 55 interest free days, an interest rate of 21.99%. But beneath the surface is one of the best travel credit cards in Australia…

One of the greatest strengths of the 28 Degrees Platinum Mastercard is that it has no currency conversion fees, which means you don’t pay extra on top of the foreign exchange rate. That’s a super handy feature that can save you a tonne of money over the span of a lengthy holiday.

Plus, with no overseas transaction fees to worry about, you can buy online at your favourite international retailers or in stores when you’re travelling internationally without paying extra on top of your purchases.

Another handy feature is the Latitude pay any way, which means that in addition to the plastic credit card you can carry around in your wallet, you also have the flexibility to pay using any mobile or wearable device.

One of the added travel perks of the 28 Degrees Credit Card, not available with other travel credit cards is that you also get free global WI-FI at more than 1 million hotspots around the world with Boingo, which could save you some serious cash on international data-roaming charges. While the service is free to cardholders you will need to register and activate the service via the 28 Degrees website.

Who is it good for

If you travel often or are a dedicated online shopper with favourite retailers from around the world, this card could be the travel-friendly option you’re after.

Any catches

While this card is great for overseas travel just remember it’s still a credit card! That means if you don’t pay your entire balance off in full each month, you’ll wind up paying interest at the 21.99% purchase rate - which could seriously eat into your next holiday fund!
