These terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits could affect the level of benefits and cover available under any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. Please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement and the Target Market Determination on the provider's website for further information before making any decisions about an insurance product.

Any information provided on this page should be considered a summary and general advice only. All information should be verified before purchase via the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is included in a Cover-More international travel insurance policy?

Cover-More offers a single-trip international policy and an international multi-trip insurance policy on their Comprehensive and Comprehensive+ policies, but only single-trip is available on their Basic policy.

Cover-More’s international policy has some standard inclusions which you can expect coverage for, in the event the unexpected happens. However, your cover may change depending on which tier you think you’ll need. It’ll also change if you add on any optional extras.

Here’s what you can expect across all of Cover-More’s international travel insurance policy tiers:

But remember: check Mozo’s data fields or the Cover-More product disclosure statement (PDS) for details on pay-out limits and general exclusions for specific parts of their travel insurance policy across the range.

If you opt for the Comprehensive tier of coverage, you can also expect the following insurance cover:

Finally, their Comprehensive+ tier of coverage, along with larger cover amounts, may also cover your rental vehicle insurance excess or repair costs if the vehicle is stolen or damaged.

Does Cover-More travel insurance have COVID-19 cover?

Cover-More does cover some COVID-19 related claims. But, like many travel insurance companies, they will not provide cover for COVID-19 related claims if you are travelling to a destination that has a Smartraveller ‘Do Not Travel’ warning in place. With Cover-More, there is no coverage if there are government directed border closures, mandatory quarantines, or self-isolation requirements.

It’s important to note that some of the benefits related to COVID-19 only apply to travellers in Australia and New Zealand, and may not apply to those on a multi-night cruise. Always read the PDS to make sure you understand what circumstances are required to receive your cover level’s benefits.

Overseas medical expenses

Cover-More could cover overseas medical costs like:

Cancellations or amendments

Cover-More provides cover for cancellations and amendments of your trip, if:

What other optional extras can I add to my Cover-More policy?

There are a few optional extras you can add to your Cover-More travel insurance policy if you need to tailor your package to the kind of holiday or trip you’re going on. These include snow sports, cruise, adventure activities, motorcycle and moped riding, and business trip coverage options.

These add-ons will increase the premium you pay, but without them you may not be covered for anything that happens related to these sorts of activities. Always be sure to check out the PDS to find details regarding limits on cover amounts and general exclusions.

Snow sports cover

Snow insurance cover is vital if you’re hitting the ski fields. Cover-More offers two versions of their snow insurance cover: Snow Sports and Snow Sports+.

The standard snow insurance, Snow Sports, includes coverage for:

However, they won’t cover you if you are competing in a professional capacity, or if you’re racing.

One level up, Snow Sports+ will include coverage for:

Once again, you won’t be covered if you’re competing in a professional capacity or racing, and you won’t be covered if you’re going off-piste against local advice or warnings.

An important thing to note is that when it comes to snow sports, you won’t be covered under the personal liability benefit of your policy. This means that if you are responsible for costs associated with damage to vehicles or property, or another person’s injury, while participating in snow sports, then your insurance will not cover you for personal liability.

Cruise cover

If you are travelling 2 or more nights on a cruise ship, then you may need cruise travel insurance for any cover related to that portion of your journey. However, if you’re not leaving Australian waters (e.g. you’re cruising the Murray River, or doing the Kimberly Cruise) then you won’t need to add cruise insurance to your policy.

Cruise cover includes:

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is not covered if you’re on a multi-night cruise, meaning that you could be liable for any medical expenses if you contract the virus.

Adventure activities cover

Arguably, the most important part of travelling is the experiences you have. With Cover-More, there are many activities automatically included across all policy plans. But for those who are a little more adventurous, some activities require you to purchase the Adventure Activities and Adventure Activities+ optional add-ons.

If you’re planning on participating in adventure activities, then you may want to add this optional-extra to your Cover-More policy. But note, if you’re engaging in these activities in a professional capacity, you may not receive the benefits of your policy on any claims you make.

Cover-More automatically covers activities such as:

You will need the Adventure Activities add-on if you plan on participating in activities like:

You will need the Adventure Activities+ add-on if you plan on participating in activities like:

If you think you might be participating in an activity that is particularly risky, then it’s always best to double-check the PDS, in case your activity isn’t covered, or if there are conditions.

Golf cover

While golf is automatically covered under all of Cover-More’s policies, your personal golf equipment is not. To get coverage for your equipment in the event it is lost, damaged, or stolen, then you will need to purchase the aforementioned Adventure Activities pack on top of your travel insurance policy.

Golf cover can include:

Motorcycle and moped riding cover

If you plan on riding a motorcycle or moped on your trip, then purchasing extra cover for these activities can cover you in case something goes wrong. You have two cover levels for this sort of activity: Motorcycle/Moped Riding cover or Motorcycle/Moped Riding+ cover.

The engine capacity of your motorcycle or moped is capped at 250cc if you go with the Motorcycle/Moped Riding policy add-on. You will only receive cover if:

On the Motorcycle/Moped Riding+ cover level, your engine capacity is unlimited. You will only receive cover if:

An important thing to note is that when it comes to motorcycle and moped riding, you won’t be covered under the personal liability benefit of your policy. This means that if you are responsible for costs associated with damage to vehicles or property, or another person’s injury, while participating in motorcycle and moped riding, then your insurance will not cover you for personal liability.

Business cover

If you’re going on a business trip, chances are you’ll be bringing equipment like a laptop. Cover-More’s business cover option can help you get back to business in the event your company equipment is stolen or damaged, or if something goes wrong on your trip. Through Cover-More, business trip cover is only available as an extra on their Comprehensive+ policy.

Business cover can include:

For more information, including conditions and sub-limits, refer to the PDs to make sure it’s the right policy for your business travel needs.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under Cover-More’s travel insurance?

Cover-More provides cover for travelling with pre-existing conditions, however they must be approved after completing a medical health assessment.

There are some pre-existing conditions which are automatically covered under Cover-More’s policies, but they may have additional criteria relating to your eligibility for cover. These include:

If your pre-existing condition isn’t listed among the automatically covered ones, then you may still be able to apply to cover them. This includes automatically included conditions for which you do not meet the eligibility requirements. To get your pre-existing condition covered, you can complete an online health assessment through Cover-More.

What exclusions are there to look out for in a Cover-More travel insurance policy?

Unless you have already had your pre-existing medical condition approved for coverage with Cover-More, they will not cover you for claims related to a pre-existing medical condition. This includes trip cancellations prior to departure due to your medical condition, and medical expenses incurred.

If the country you are travelling to, or choose to remain in, has a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning issued by the Australian government’s Smartraveller website, then you will not be covered under Cover-More’s policies regarding any COVID-19 claims.

A brief list of general exclusions also include claims relating to:

Always make sure to check the PDS for details relating to general exclusions.

What do I do if there’s an emergency during my trip?

If there’s an emergency during your overseas trip, call Cover-More on their emergency assistance line. Depending on where you’re calling from, the number will vary. See below for the numbers you can call, toll free.

The emergency assistance line is available 24/7 if you need it. Cover-More’s team will be able to help you out with things like finding medical facilities and emergency hospital expenses, among other things. When you call, make sure you have your policy number and a phone number which they can call you back on if need be.

Follow the prompts and complete the checklist, then upload your scanned documents to their claims portal.

You can also post your supporting documents to Cover-More, if need be. Make sure to make copies of the originals though, in case they get lost along the way. Cover-More’s postal address is:

I have been trying for weeks via phone and the contact form to update my policy. Impossible to get hold of anyone and no response to the form enquiry. I am at a point now that I will need to take out a new policy just to make sure I'm covered for the travel changes. It won't be with Covermore!! I hate to think how poor a response (if any) I would get if I actually needed to make a claim!!

Do not buy travel insurance with these people. There is zero customer service. No call-backs. Wait times for hours - I've had to give up every time after being on hold for an eternity. My travel start date is coming up and I cannot make a minor change to the policy or confirm if my insurance covers a key component of my trip. The insurance was provided by my travel agent at the time of booking. Because I cannot contact them I am now having to buy travel insurance with another company to be sure I'm covered. Utter waste of money.
