Amplify Qantas Platinum (Qantas Frequent Flyer)
Rewards: Qantas Frequent Flyer
If you’re a big spender who uses plastic all the time, then why not get a card that rewards you for it? The St. George Amplify Platinum Credit Card gives you the chance to earn 1 Amplify Point per $1 spent on Visa (uncapped) when you opt for the Amplify Rewards option, or 0.5 points per dollar spent on Visa when you go with the Qantas Frequent Flyer option.
Plus, for a limited time, new customers can bag either 60,000 bonus Qantas Points or 100,000 Amplify Points (depending on which rewards scheme you opt for) if they apply and are approved by 30th June 2022. New customers who apply and are approved by 30th June can also receive up to $27.50 monthly cashback on their Kayo subscription.
One of the most important things about the St.George Amplify Platinum credit card is that you'll get to choose between two rewards program offers: the Amplify Platinum Amplify rewards program or the Amplify Platinum Qantas rewards program.
The Amplify Platinum Qantas option gets you 0.5 points per $1 spent on Visa* and lets you link your rewards earning to your Qantas Frequent Flyer program, allowing for more streamlined points earning if you know you’ll be putting all your points towards travel. There's also a massive 60,000 bonus Qantas Points offer available with this rewards program. To earn these extra points you will have to spend a minimum of $3,000 on eligible purchases, within the first 90 days of being approved for the card. The offer ends on 30 June 2022.
With the Amplify Platinum Amplify option, you'll earn 1 Amplify Point per $1 spent on Visa (uncapped), which helps you earn rewards faster and lets you claim rewards through St. George rewards program. These points can be used to redeem a wide range of rewards from wallets, to headphones, to suitcases and much more. Plus if you opt for this rewards program, there's also a limited time opportunity to bag extra points, 100,000 to be precise. To be eligible for this you will have to apply for the card before 30 June 2022 and spend at least $3,000 within the first 90 days of approval.
If you've got some lingering debt you need to take care of, you'll be able to tap into the 24 months 0% p.a. balance transfer option. Just keep in mind that a 1% p.a. balance transfer fee applies and once that time period is up, any outstanding transferred balance will accrue interest at a rate of 21.49% p.a. There's usually a $99 annual card fee to budget for, however for a limited time St.George are offering to cut that to a $29 introductory annual card fee. If you do not pay off new purchases within the first 55 interest fee days, they will accrue interest at a rate of 19.49% p.a.
Beyond the rewards, the card comes with some other premium perks, such as complimentary travel insurance, extended warranty on products and extra purchase protection.
If you’re someone that uses Samsung Pay to pay bills or make purchases, you’ll be glad to know you can link the card to your account.
To finish off, if you want to share the card with someone like a significant other, you’ll be able to add a free additional cardholder on the account.
*From 1 January 2022, earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 up to a maximum of $100,000 spent on eligible purchases annually. Bonus Qantas Points not included in the cap.
Spenders who want that little bit extra from their card purchases may find the St. George Amplify Platinum could be just the ticket, with rewards points and premium perks on offer.
One thing to bear in mind is that this offer isn't available if you’ve held a St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA rewards credit card in the last 12 months.

To work out the "Rewards value minus fees" in our Rewards Revealer we:
calculate how many points you'd get each year,
figure out how many flights or gift cards or cashback credits you could get for those points,
work out what that's actually worth to you,
take off the annual fee you'd pay.
More details:
Our calculations are designed to help you compare the value of different rewards schemes. To do this, we've looked at earning a one-way Sydney-Melbourne flight excluding taxes and charges, a return Sydney-London flight excluding taxes and charges, a $100 shopping Gift Card and $100 cashback. Most cards will also offer other rewards, which may be worth more or less than the ones we've shown.
We have made no allowance for bonus points for using your card at specific merchants, introductory offers or special offers. We have not assigned any value to instant discounts, insurances, ticketing and concierge services or other such benefits.
Rewards value calculations do not take credit card interest into account. If you do not pay off your card each month you may be better off looking for a card based on interest rates than on the value of rewards.
In products that have more than one card, a different mix of spend between American Express / Visa / Mastercard will give different results. Mozo's Rewards Revealer lets you choose the mix based on the way you would use such a product, and gives you tailored results.
We assume flights purchased with airline points are 'classic' or 'reward' economy seats with restricted seat availability. 'Any seat' rewards will probably cost more.
To compare the value of flight rewards, we sample online retail flight prices once a quarter based on the average price on a Wednesday 3 months in advance but outside NSW school holidays. For domestic flights we take the lowest available fare from each flight on that day from Qantas Red e-deal, Virgin Australia Saver including baggage and Jetstar Starter including baggage. We calculate the average price excluding taxes and surcharges for each airline, and also the average across all airlines (which we use when rewards are travel agent vouchers). For international flights, we take the lowest available fares on that same Wednesday from each of Qantas, Emirates, Malaysian, Etihad, Singapore, Cathay Pacific and Thai, assuming a return flight 2 weeks later, calculate the average price before taxes and surcharges and use this as our assumed cost of a flight on any airline.
Shopping rewards are based on $100 gift cards from a major national department store.
We make every effort to ensure our calculations are correct and up to date but make no guarantees.
