The HSBC Home Value Loan offers competitive variable rates for both owner occupiers and investors on loans between $50,000 and $15,000,000, allowing you to borrow up to 90% of the property’s price. The lowest rate currently available is 1.97% (1.98% comparison rate*) for owner occupiers with an LVR below 70% who are willing to make principal and interest repayments on their loan. Interested home loan customers will need to apply by 31 December 2021.

Although this is a variable loan, the good news is that the HSBC Home Value Loan comes with a split account feature, which means you’ll have the option of splitting your loan into two portions, one with a variable rate and the other with a fixed rate.

The HSBC Home Value Loan offers a range of flexible features including the choice of making weekly, fortnightly or monthly loan repayments and the ability to make free extra repayments to help you pay your loan off faster. There's also a free online redraw facility which borrowers, who have made extra repayments, can use to access them down the line. 

The other benefit of the loan is that there are relatively few fees involved. Borrowers will need to pay a one-off settlement fee of $150 at the start of their loan, as well as a $300 discharge fee in the future, but there are no ongoing fees to worry about. 

There's even a cashback offer! Eligible refinancers looking to switch a loan of $250,000 or more to HSBC will be able to score $3,288 cashback when they apply before 31 December, 2021.

Who is it good for

The HSBC Home Value Loan is an excellent option if you’re a borrower looking for a low-rate home loan option with a few flexible features. This could be a particularly good loan option if you’re a first home buyer as you’ll only need to pay a 10% deposit, but if you do choose that option you may need to pay lenders mortgage insurance.
