Knose award-winning pet insuranceImportant information on terms, conditions and sub-limits
Do you have a four-legged best buddy? Are you keen to make sure all their healthcare needs are met? Well, we think you should ‘knose’ about Knose (sorry, couldn’t resist).
In all seriousness though, this pet insurance provider has just been awarded a pretty big prize – the much coveted 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Award for Pet Insurance Provider of the Year!
Co-founder Tiaan Dreyer says Knose is over the moon to have won.
"We have been working hard for the last three years to establish Knose Pet Insurance as the obvious choice for owners considering insurance for their pets," he says.
"It feels amazing to be recognised as the Pet Insurance Provider of the Year by an organisation that understands financial products and what really offers value to customers."
About Knose Insurance
While Knose itself launched in 2017, the minds behind it have been working in the insurance biz for years. It was this experience that inspired Dreyer and co-founder Nathan Harris to create an insurance offering that would be simpler and more easily accessible for people with fur-babies.
Dreyer says Knose’s aim is to make Australian pets the happiest and healthiest in the world. "We do this by reducing the barriers for pet parents to access expert advice, essential services and necessary products to keep their pets happy, healthy and well."
Knose started its journey by offering Pet Care Plans, which Dreyer says focus on helping pet owners get subscriptions to essential services such as “home-delivered parasite control in the right dosage, just when it’s due.” Following the launch of the Pet Care Plans, Knose worked with its backers for more than a year to bring Knose Pet Insurance to the market.
"We finally launched in June 2019, two years after founding the company," Dreyer says.

So long as they are eligible, both cat and dog friends can be signed up to this policy. It comes with a generous $25,000 annual benefit limit and you can choose a 70%, 80% or even 90% benefit percentage. This is the percentage of vet costs (or emergency boarding costs) Knose will pay, should you need to make a claim. So for instance with a 70% benefit percentage, Knose would pay $700 of a $1,000 eligible claim. Other standout features include no additional excesses or sub-limits to worry about, accidental injury and illness cover, emergency boarding cover and chronic conditions cover. On top of all this, Knose is offering a 5% discount exclusively with Mozo. To receive the discount either click the ‘go to site’ button or enter the promo code MOZO5 at the Knose checkout.

Chronic condition cover applies if your furry friend develops such a condition, after you have taken out a policy for them. In this instance, Knose says it may agree to renew the policy, so long as the premium renewal payments are made on time.
Although it should be noted that as your pet gets older, their medical costs may be more expensive and more frequent. For this reason Knose may need to increase your buddy’s premium price to make sure it can still help cover vet bills. Don’t worry though, Knose promises to notify customers beforehand should premium prices go up, so you shouldn’t be hit with a bigger premium bill out of the blue.
Other things to be aware of is that as with most insurance policies, waiting periods do apply. These range from as short as one day to as long as six months. Some of which include cruciate ligament damage, hip dysplasia and osteochondritis dissecans. Read the product disclosure statement available on Knose’s website for a full list of conditions with longer waiting periods.
Finally, there are age limits with Knose’s policy. When purchasing a new policy your cat or dog must be at least six weeks old and cannot be any older than eight years. Again, we recommend reading the product disclosure statement, cover to cover, before signing up.
What does Knose’s claims process look like?
You can make a claim with Knose by logging into your online Knose account or your vet can email the information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If making a claim via your online account, you will be asked to fill in and submit a form and attach a copy of your vet’s invoice. Your vet will then be contacted for a copy of the clinical notes relating to your pal. Or, if your vet emails Knose, Knose may contact you to check that you did indeed want to claim.
Finally, Knose will let you know if they need a full treatment history for your pet.
