If rewards get you out of bed in the morning, but you’re after affordability as well, here’s a great option for you. The rewards card on offer from Hume Bank allows you to rack up some points in return for your spending, without the usual hefty price tag.

You’ll have up to 55 days interest free to pay off purchases on your Hume Bank credit card. But keep in mind:
You’ll only get these days if you’ve paid off your balance in full the previous month
Interest free days don’t apply to cash advances, so think twice before you hit the ATM!
The interest free period doesn’t start when you make a purchase, but begins when your statement cycle does (usually in the beginning of the month)
The credit cards on offer from Hume Bank are pretty gentle, as far as fees are concerned. You won’t pay an annual fee on the low rate card, and the rewards card packs a light punch compared to others of its kind. Plus, even this fee will be waived when you spend over $8,000 on your Hume Bank credit card the previous year.
But keep in mind that there is a cash advance fee and foreign exchange margin to contend with.
Each month your credit card statement from Hume Bank will show the minimum payment you must make, which will be either 3% of your total balance or $10.00, whichever is greater. If your whole balance is less than $10, you’ll need to pay the entire amount.
The low rate credit card option from Hume Bank doesn’t have a rewards program attached - it’s designed to save you money, not encourage spending!
The Rewards option, on the other hand, will allow you to earn Hume Bank loyalty points, which are credited to your account each six months. You’ll earn one loyalty point for each dollar you spend, and then at the other end, every 400 loyalty points converts back into $1 of credit.
Yes you can, by adding it to your application. But each one is approved on a case-by-case basis, so before you go ahead, speak to someone from Hume Bank to find out the details in your situation.

Because your Hume Bank credit card is a VISA, it will work just about anywhere you want to go.
That’s right! Being a VISA card means you can use payWave with your Hume Bank credit card to pay for purchases under $100.
You can minimise the risk credit card fraud poses to your card security by taking a few common sense safety steps. Hume Bank offered up a few suggestions on how to be credit card security-savvy:
Sign your credit card as soon as you receive it
Look for evidence of tampering or skimming devices before you use an ATM
Cover your PIN when you use an ATM or EFTPOS machine
Don’t keep your PIN written down with your card
In fact, try not to write it down at all
Don’t tell your PIN to anyone else
Remember to register your card for Verified by Visa

We have banked with the Hume Bank for more than 30 years, have paid off 2 houses and a couple of credit cards with them! Very happy and I do regularly have a look at the competition.

I like this bank because it isn't one of the big banks and they treat you like an individual, not a number

Hume Building Society, an absolutely amazing place to deal with. Can actually call and speak with a person! Fantastic customer service, no charge for a having a credit card with them either, I wish I had found them years ago, traditional banks need a real good shake up! I haven't found any cons, just read all the stuff that comes with your cards! Obviously penalties as with all banks apply if you don't pay on time. I have two credit cards with them, Visa gold and Visa loyalty.
