Medibank Ultimate Pet Care pet insurance covers cats and dogs, from as young as 8 weeks up to 9 years old (at the time of application). It offers an annual benefit limit of up to $15,000 for accidental injury and illness, reimburses you for up to 80% of your eligible vet bills, and has flexible excess options (from $0, to $100, or $200). Plus, you’ll also have the option to secure additional benefits by paying extra for Routine care cover, which comes with additional non-insurance benefits for preventative treatments.

Medibank Routine Care benefits*
Along with their Ultimate Pet Care policy, Medibank pet insurance customers have the option to pay an extra premium to secure Routine Care benefits.
Purchasing the optional Routine Care addition can help out with some of the cost of eligible preventative treatments for your pet, which can include:
- Desexing
- Microchipping
- Heartworm control and tests
- Teeth cleaning
- Council registration fees
- Alternative therapies
- Prescription diets
- Vaccination or health checks
- Cremation or burial
- Behavioural therapy
- Obedience training
- Blood screens
- FeLV/FIV tests
- Feal, tick, and worm control.
However, keep in mind that reading the product disclosure statement (PDS) of your policy before purchasing it is the best way to understand if a policy meets your needs. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the benefit limits, sub-limits, inclusions, and exclusions of a policy – including Routine Care limits.
