ALDImobile has launched a limited-time offer for a prepaid mobile phone plan that includes 1,000GB of data for $499. It’s the largest data inclusion in ALDI’s ‘1 Year Super Pack’ range, which starts at 15GB for $99. The offer is available from 15 June to 28 June 2022.

While the data inclusion may appear impressive, especially for a supermarket mobile plan, it’s worth taking a look at what else you might get from these packs.

What is included in ALDI’s Super Packs?

ALDI’s long-expiry (365-day) ‘1 Year Super Packs’ come packaged with:

  • Unlimited standard national calls
  • Unlimited standard national texts
  • Unlimited standard national MMS (excluding video MMS)
  • International roaming (you must enable this feature in your account)
  • Unused data rollover (T&Cs apply)
  • Ability to purchase top-up data packs

There doesn’t appear to be any international talk and text minutes included, which is unlike many mobile phone plans currently available. However, you can purchase additional Pay As You Go credit (PAYG) if you need to make international calls to friends or family overseas. PAYG credit can also be purchased to make video MMS calls.

So with 1000GB of data, how much does that work out to be per month? Well, at $499 it breaks down to a monthly cost of around $41.59 for 83.33GB of data, or a little under 50c per GB.

How does that stack up compared with monthly mobile plans around a similar price range and data inclusion?

As you can see, it’s worth comparing a long-expiry plan’s monthly breakdown with month-to-month plans to see if they are more suitable for your needs. Some even come bundled with international talk and text credit.

However, some may see a drawback of monthly plans when it comes to data allowances. So, if you’re good at managing your data usage, then ALDI’s long-expiry 1,000GB data plan could be worth considering.

But before you purchase a mobile phone plan, always have a read through the critical information summary to see if a plan is right for you. The devil can be in the details, so it’s always worth investigating.
