How to score a great phone plan for under $50 per month

Piggy bank with money and a phone

Your monthly phone bill can impact your bank account, especially if you are paying more than you need to be. While a lot of people still opt to go with one of the major telco providers like Optus, Vodafone or Telstra, you may find that you can get more bang for your buck by switching to a smaller provider.

Most mobile plans from the big telcos start from about $45 per month but if you’re wanting to spend less than that, there are lots of options to think about.

Here is a breakdown of some SIM only mobile plans that cost between $10 and $50 per month. There are lots of options for you to choose from, no matter your budget or data needs.

Mobile plans for $10 - $29 per month

It might seem unlikely but you can get a SIM only plan for as low as $10 per month! The only catch is that these plans usually don’t come with much data (usually less than 10GB per month.) However, if you don’t use much data they’re a cost effective option!

If you need a bit more data, there are options between $20 and $29 a month, which is still quite cheap.

Mobile plans for $30 - $40

For as little as $30 per month, you can get a massive 32GB of data… find out what other plans are available for between $31 and $40 per month.

Plans between $41 - $50

If you use a lot of data, you may have to spend a bit more than $40/month but don’t worry, there are plans with up to 100GB for between $41 and $50 per month.

If you want to go with a plan from one of the big telcos, this is also the price that you’ll start to see plans from them.
