Everything you need to know about the NSW Back to School Vouchers

Back to school shopping

Believe it or not, the new school year starts in just a matter of weeks.

This time of year can get very costly when you add up the price of new school uniforms and shoes as well as text books and stationery.

If you're feeling stressed about the additional costs, we have some good news...

The NSW Government has announced that they will be supplying eligible students with vouchers that can be used to pay for school essentials.

Here’s everything you need to know about these vouchers.

Who is eligible for the Back to School Vouchers?

The only eligibility criteria for receiving the Back to School voucher is that the student is a NSW resident and is enrolled to attend school in 2023. Students can be in any school year from kindergarten to year 12.

This also applies to students who are home-schooled or are enrolled in TAFE NSW to complete year 10 or year 12 qualifications.

Parents and caregivers can apply for their children by using a Medicare card, or students can apply for themselves if they have their own Medicare cards.

How to apply for Back to School Vouchers?

You can apply for the Back to School vouchers through the Service NSW website or app. Only one application can be made per student and you can apply for more than one student in the same application if they are on the same Medicare card.

How much are the Back to School Vouchers worth?

Eligible students will be given 3 x $50 vouchers.

Where can the Back to School Vouchers be used?

The vouchers can be used to buy school uniforms, shoes, bags, textbooks and stationery.

Many school uniform shops will accept these vouchers as well as some independent retailers.

Independent businesses that are accepting these vouchers include:

The vouchers are valid until 30 June 2023, giving you plenty of time to shop!

What if I live outside NSW?

Unfortunately, other Australian states have not announced if they will be supplying back to school vouchers.
