Sometimes it feels like you're throwing money out the door when you pay an insurance premium to protect your perfectly safe and functioning car, home and belongings. But if there’s ever a crisis, crash or kerfuffle, it really does pay to maintain your insurance.

Here at Mozo, we try to help you find insurance policies to suit your needs. Each year we assess what’s on offer in the insurance world to find the best quality and best value policies in the Mozo Experts Choice Awards.

In 2020, the Mozo judges scoured the fine print and gathered thousands of quotes to uncover the best insurance policies across comprehensive car insurance and home and contents insurance.

Woolworths Insurance came out on top as a jack-of-all-trades, taking out an award in both product categories.

Their Comprehensive Car Insurance and Building and Contents Insurance were both identified as top value competitors. According to Mozo’s expert judges, this means both policies offered a good level of cover while often being the more affordable option compared to others in the market.

Award-winning insurance policies from Woolworths

Woolworths Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • Pay Less, Drive Less policy option
  • 15% apply-online discount on your first year’s premium

You’d always hunt for specials in the grocery store, right? Well, with Woolworths Comprehensive Car Insurance you can also find a winning car insurance option at an affordable price.

Customers who apply online will receive a 15% discount on the first year of cover with this policy. Plus, you can opt for the pay-as-you-drive cover. Woolies call this their ‘Pay Less, Drive Less’ option, and that really is it in a nutshell. Weekend drivers or people who use public transport for most of their commuting can elect a low kilometre limit, and Woolworths will negotiate a premium reduction in return.

Other great features include the $500-worth of personal property within your car that’s covered, and stolen key and lock replacement (up to $1,000). And if your car is written off within two years of its first registration, your policy will provide a brand new set of wheels to replace it.

Woolworths Building & Contents Insurance Comprehensive Cover
  • Accidental glass breakage cover
  • Temporary accommodation costs covered

This wallet-friendly home and contents insurance policy protects your four walls and belongings against a wide range of events. Alongside cover for fire, theft, storms, flooding and even earthquake and lightning, the comprehensive level of cover provides additional benefits like cover for accidental glass breakage and landscaping repairs.

If after an insured event your home is unlivable, Woolworths will cover your alternative accommodation costs for up to 12 months or  10% of the sum insured. Even up to $500 for your pets’ temporary housing will be covered. And if your locks have been damaged in a theft or other incident, replacement costs are also included in the policy.
