InsureandGo travel insurance policies

Currently, InsureandGo offers domestic travel insurance and single-trip international travel insurance, including cover for COVID-19 related claims. They offer individual, couple, and family cover at three different levels. You can choose to go with their Bare Essentials plan, SIlver, or Gold coverage. With each tier of cover, your premium increases, but what you’re covered for and the amount you are insured for will rise too.

They offer a few extras which you can add to your policy, if you need to tailor your insurance to cover the kinds of activities you’ll be participating in. These include, but are not limited to, winter sports cover and even golf trip cover.

Terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits may apply to any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. These terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits could affect the level of benefits and cover available under any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. Please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement and the Target Market Determination on the provider's website for further information before making any decisions about an insurance product.

Any information provided on this page should be considered a summary and general advice only. All information should be verified before purchase via the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is included in an InsureandGo international travel insurance policy?

At the time of writing, InsureandGo only offers a single-trip international policy. As opposed to an international multi-trip insurance policy, the cover you’ll receive after taking out a policy with them will only be valid for the nominated destination and time frame.

InsureandGo’s international policy has some standard inclusions which you can expect coverage for, in the event the unexpected happens. However, your cover may change depending on which tier you think you’ll need. It’ll also change if you add on any optional extras.

Here’s what you can expect across all of InsureandGo’s One Trip international travel insurance policy tiers:

But remember: check Mozo’s data fields or the InsureandGo product disclosure statement (PDS) for details on pay-out limits and general exclusions for specific parts of their travel insurance policy across the Bare Essentials, Silver, and Gold cover levels.

If you opt for the Silver tier of coverage, you can also expect the following insurance cover:

Finally, their Gold tier of coverage may also cover you for:

Does InsureandGo travel insurance have COVID-19 cover?

Like almost all travel insurance providers at the moment, they will not provide cover for COVID-19 related claims if you are travelling to a destination that has a Smartraveller ‘Do Not Travel’ warning in place. With InsureandGo, there is no coverage if there are government directed border closures, mandatory quarantines, or self-isolation requirements.

Also, keep in mind that in the cases where COVID-19 is covered by InsureandGo, it does not apply to those who have taken out the Bare Essentials cover. You will need to have the Silver or Gold packages in order to claim for COVID-19 related expenses.

Cancellations or amendments

InsureandGo provides cover for cancellations and amendments of your trip, if:

InsureandGo could cover your expenses (up to the relevant limits) for:

Overseas medical expenses

InsureandGo could cover overseas medical costs like:

Other COVID-19 related benefits

InsureandGo also provide the following COVID-19 related benefits:

What other optional extras can I add to my InsureandGo policy?

There are a few optional extras you can add to your InsureandGo travel insurance policy if you need to tailor your package to the kind of holiday or tip you’re going on. These include winter sports cover, natural disaster cover, business cover, and golf cover.

These add-ons will come at an extra premium, but without them you may not be covered for anything that happens related to these sorts of activities. Always be sure to check out the PDS to find details regarding limits on cover amounts and general exclusions.

Winter sports cover

Snow insurance cover is vital if you’re hitting the ski fields. InsureandGo’s coverage includes recreational skiing and snowboarding, bigfoot skiing, cat skiing, cross-country skiing, heli-skiing, ice skating, and off-piste skiing with professional instructors, among other modes of snow sport. If you add on winter sports cover, you can expect coverage for:

Business cover

If you’re going on a business trip, chances are you’ll be bringing a laptop, as well as important documents. InsureandGo’s business cover option can help you get back to business in the event that something goes wrong. Business cover includes:

Golf cover

If you’re an avid golfer looking to hit the greens overseas, you might want cover for your personal golfing equipment. This optional add-on covers:

Natural disaster cover

Natural disasters, like cyclones, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and avalanches happen all the time across the globe. Adding this sort of protection, if you feel where you’re going warrants it, could give you peace of mind on your journey. You’re automatically covered for medical expenses related to natural disasters, but not things like cancellations. This add-on is available on all policy tiers, but on the Bare Essentials policy, it only covers additional emergency expenses. Natural disaster cover on the Silver and Gold policy tiers includes:

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under InsureandGo’s travel insurance?

InsureandGo defines a pre-existing medical condition as any diagnosed medical condition which, in the last 5 years, you (or any person on your certificate of insurance) has suffered from or received medical treatment, advice, or medication for.

InsureandGo does not automatically cover any medical conditions in their international travel insurance policy. However, you can gain cover for pre-existing medical conditions by calling InsureandGo and discussing your situation with them. They will let you know if they can cover you for your medical condition and related claims that could result from it. If you would like to discuss your options, call InsureandGo on 1300 401 177.

What sporting activities are covered?

There are a wide variety of sports and activities covered by InsureandGo’s travel insurance policies. But keep in mind, with some sports and activities, you will not be covered for accidental death and permanent disability or personal liability. One condition for cover is ensuring that you follow guidelines for the activity and use appropriate safety equipment, when necessary.

If you are planning on participating in any sports and activities that are not part of a competition, or being performed in a professional capacity, check the PDS to make sure you know what you’re covered for.

Some examples of sports and activities that are covered include:

What exclusions are there to look out for in an InsureandGo travel insurance policy?

If you’re looking for cruise travel insurance, unfortunately you won’t find it with InsureandGo. So, any claims relating to your cruise holiday will not be covered.

Unless you have already had your pre-existing medical condition approved for coverage with InsureandGo, they will not cover you for claims related to a pre-existing medical condition. This includes trip cancellations prior to departure due to your medical condition, and medical expenses incurred.

If the country you are travelling to, or choose to remain in, has a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning issued by the Australian government’s Smartraveller website, then you will not be covered under InsureandGo’s policies.

A brief list of general exclusions also include claims relating to:

Always make sure to check the PDS for details relating to general exclusions.

What do I do if there’s an emergency during my trip?

If there’s an emergency during your overseas trip, call InsureandGo on their emergency assistance line. The number is +61 2 9333 3999, and is available 24/7 if you need it. InsureandGo’s team will be able to help you out with things like finding medical facilities and medical evacuation, among other things.

How do I make a claim with InsureandGo travel insurance?

You must register a claim with InsureandGo within 30 days of returning home. You will need to have all the relevant documentation to support your claim, such as receipts for valuables, or invoices from hospitals and doctors if you incurred medical costs. InsureandGo asks that you provide these documents in English, or get them officially translated into English.

To get access to claims forms, or if you have any enquiries about making a claim, contact InsureandGo on 02 9333 3901, email them at info@insureandgo.com.au, or head to InsureandGo’s online claims portal.

Is it possible to cancel my InsureandGo travel insurance policy?

You can cancel your policy within 14 days of purchasing it, provided that you have not made any claims or exercised any rights under the policy, and your trip hasn’t commenced yet. InsureandGo will cancel your policy  and give you a full refund of the premium you paid. If you would like to cancel, contact InsureandGo on 02 9333 3902, or via email at info@insureandgo.com.au.

Check the small print before wasting your money!

We paid $1146.00 for travel insurance with this company but when we needed to claim we found it was NOT worth the paper it was written on, the ONLY thing covered was 'Natural Disaster', which obviously COVID 19 is not?

It is to be hoped that Insure&Go doesn’t have the word “integrity” in its Mission Statement! After almost 4 months since my travel insurance claim (approx. $5k) was lodged and the ensuing 2-stage process of MAPFRE complaint/dispute assessment after rejection, I&G has paid. The policy included cancellation due to pandemics. The insurance company stated that I should have accepted vouchers/credits even though I had stated that we were not intending to travel internationally post-Covid, and that the policy period was for an event with end-date. I can only assume that my genuine and earlier threat to refer the claim to the AFCA (ombudsman, arbitrator) was the factor, so I&G probably used the “try-on” first. So “buyer beware” of this company!

THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT I SHOULD HAVE ACCEPTED VOUCHERS/CREDITS EVEN MY TRAVEL INSURANCE CLAIM (APPROX. $5K) WAS LODGED, AND THE ENSUING 2-STAGE PROCESS OF MAPFRE COMPLAINT/DISPUTE AFTER REJECTION, I&G HAS PAID THOUGH I STATED THAT WE WERE NOT INTENDING TO TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY POST-COVID, AND THAT THE POLICY PERIOD WAS FOR AN EVENT WITH END-DATE. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT MY GENUINE AND EARLIER THREAT TO REFER THE CLAIM TO THE AFCA (OMBUDSMAN, ARBITRATOR) WAS THE FACTOR, SO I&G PROBABLY USED THE “TRY-ON” FIRST.
