The Citi Global Currency Account is an everyday bank account and a multi-currency travel card all in one. Transactions have never been so easy with the Citi Global Currency Account. The Global Currency Account comes with a linked debit card that can be used in store, online and around the world. It can hold up to 10 currencies including AUD, USD, EUR, SGD, NZD, JPY, GBP, CAD, HKD and CHF.
The account has access to real-time exchange rates which are updated on the Citi mobile app every 10 seconds, meaning that you can exchange your money when rates are most favourable and convenient to you. There's also no foreign exchange fee on regular over the counter purchases - but keep in mind that if you're withdrawing cash from an ATM, in a currency not currently held in your account, you'll pay a 2.50% foreign exchange fee.
There is no account fee, no minimum opening balance, and unlike many standard everyday bank accounts you’ll have the ability to earn interest. You’ll be looking at an interest rate of 1.20% for balances of $25,000 AUD and above or no interest for balances from $0 - $25,000.
As an added reward, you’ll also receive a free bottle of wine every time you pay with your Citibank Debit Card at any Citibank Dining Program partner restaurant.
The Global Currency Account has a minimum age requirement of 18 years and is best suited to global nomads or frequent travellers and are after a flexible personal bank account. For example, those who have family living abroad, have international investments, have overseas property or who make international purchases or transfers often. You must also have a valid email, mobile number and Australian residential address to open the account.
Keep in mind that if you already have a Citi debit card, you won't get a new one when you sign up for the Citi Global Currency Account. Instead you can link your existing card the your new account, just remember you'll need to do this via Citibank Online or the Citi Mobile App as it won't happen automatically.
If the Citi Global Currency Account is your first Citi account, you'll get a new debit card which is automatically linked to your Aussie dollar currency account.

Do NOT get this account if you are travelling overseas. I was in an overseas trip and needed more fund so I made a transfer from my other Australian account to this one. 13 days has passed the fund is still on hold for no reasons. I can't access my own money. I had to use my Australian credit card to make transactions overseas and ended up with foreign transaction fees.

Do not use this account if you are travelling!!!! In order to transfer money, convert money into another currency or do anything with this account you are required to enter a one time pin code that is awesome to your mobile. I lost my phone overseas. When I rang asking to change my mobile number I was told that it was impossible for me to do this unless I sent a letter (I could not do this via the phone or email) stating that I wished to change my phone number along with copies of my passport, birth certificate and drivers licence. This left me virtually unable to use my travel account whilst overseas. Very unhelpful customer service. The website also instructed me to call if I lost my phone and that someone would be able to assist me to change my number. This was a lie.
