Our verdict

Frequent Flyer Black is ANZ’s premium Qantas rewards card, delivering a decent Qantas points earn rate plus a veritable planeload of bonus points. You’ll also get 75 bonus Status Credits when you buy and fly return with Qantas by 31 January 2018 and two complimentary Qantas Club Lounge Visits a year. You'll need to earn $75,000 or more to apply and there's a $15,000 minimum credit limit.

American Express - Explorer® Credit Card
  • 100,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,500 in the first 3 months
  • $400 travel credit annually
  • Earn up to 2 points per $1 spent – uncapped
Our verdict

The Explorer lets cardholders do just that, with a winning combination of rewards points and $400 annual travel credit to use on flights, hotels, car hire and events booked through American Express travel. Cardholders can earn up to 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent, uncapped, and transfer points to 8 partner airlines including Virgin, Singapore and Etihad. A great card for those who don't want to be tied to one airline and who have an annual pre-tax income of $65,000 or more.

American Express - Qantas Discovery Card
  • Earn 1 Qantas point per dollar spent, uncapped
  • Additional bonus point per $1 spent on Qantas products
  • No annual fee for the life of the card
Our verdict

If you love flying Qantas and hate credit card fees, this could be the card for you.  Points are transferred direct to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account each month and there are no caps on earn rate or the amount of points you can earn. Other card benefits include refund protection, purchase protection and 0% on balance transfers for 12 months. You’ll need a pre-tax annual income of $35,000 or more to apply.
