Can you guess the most recommended energy retailers in Australia?

When you think of your energy provider do feelings of satisfaction, trust and honestly swirl around your brain? Or are you confronted with fear and uncertainty?

Those are the two questions 3,690 Aussies asked themselves in April 2019 that ultimately revealed the 2019 Mozo People’s Choice Award winners for electricity.

Now in their 10th year, the Mozo People’s Choice Awards look to everyday Aussies to determine which banks, insurers or providers are standouts in their respective fields.

To determine the winners, Aussies were asked to rank their energy retailer on a scale of 1-10 across a range of categories including, overall customer satisfaction, customer service, whether they’d recommend them to others, trust and the clarity of their power bills.

“Two of the reasons we host our People’s Choice Awards is to not only get an insight into how Aussies feel about the providers they’re with, but to acknowledge the provides in the market who get it right with their customers,” said Mozo Data Services Director and Expert Judge, AJ Duncanson.

And according to Duncanson, with all the current heat around the energy market, these awards could not have come at a better time.

“When you consider the findings in the ACCC’s Retail Electricity Price Inquiry about the lack of transparency between retailers, things like trust and honesty play a massive part in selecting a retailer,” he said.

Although all our winners deserve their moment in the spotlight, one retailer that performed outstandingly was Red Energy - taking home a 2019 People’s Choice Award in all five categories.

“Red Energy are committed to a more sustainable future, but they also make the effort to provide flexibility and rewards with their electricity plans, so I’m not surprised to see they’re a top winner,” said Duncanson.

Other winners included Powershop, Alinta Energy, Momentum Energy and Simply Energy.
