In Australia, the federal and state governments offer a range of schemes and grants to help you buy a home. So, what's available in your state or territory at the moment?
Australian federal and state governments offer a range of home loan grants, stamp duty concessions and home-buying schemes to help make property ownership more accessible and affordable, particularly for first-home buyers who may struggle to save up a deposit or meet strict lending requirements.
Home loan grants are often a lump sum of cash, payable to an eligible Australian home buyer, whereas schemes are like alternative pathways to homeownership.
From first-home buyer grants and stamp duty concessions to shared equity schemes, like the new Help to Buy scheme , here’s a list of home-buying grants and schemes running in 2024.
The first home buyer grant is a one-off lump sum payment to help with the cost of purchasing your first property. The amount you get from the FHOG is different depending on which state or territory you live in, and eligibility requirements may differ.
