Does World2Cover Travel Insurance have COVID-19 coverage?

World2Cover offers insurance for events related to COVID-19, such as overseas medical coverage and cancellation cover, but this will vary depending on your policy, level of coverage, and the circumstances of your claim.

World2Cover’s COVID-19 insurance has detailed terms, conditions and sub-limits that may impact the validity of your claim, so be sure to review the terms and conditions to know exactly what's covered in the PDS.

What optional extras can I add to my World2Cover policy?

Some of the optional extras or add-ons offered by World2Cover can be attached depending on your policy benefits level. The main one is Ski and Winter Sports coverage, which can be extremely useful if you're going on a snowy holiday.

If you're cruising around Australia or internationally, you can also select a cruise cover option. World2Cover's policy for international cruises covers both international ocean and river cruising.

Just remember, adding extras to any policy will increase your premium.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under World2Cover Travel Insurance?

World2Cover has a list of pre-existing medical conditions which it covers automatically. For non-automatically included conditions, you can get a medical assessment and may still be able to take out cover.

Make sure you read your PDS carefully if you're planning to travel with a pre-existing condition.

What do I do if there is an emergency during my trip?

If there's a medical overseas emergency on your trip it's best to immediately contact World2Cover's 24/7 phone line where they will provide you with assistance. Getting in touch as soon as possible will help you to collect all the documents needed for your future claim as you can get assurance from World2Cover that the steps that you take in seeking medical treatment or other assistance follow the correct process.

In most countries, you call +61 2 8055 1683 (reverse charges will be accepted). In Japan, call the toll-free 0800-800-9117 or if mobile access is restricted the local number is 03 6228 5881.

How do I make a claim with World2Cover Travel Insurance?

To kick start any claim you'll want to call or email World2Cover's claims department as soon as possible and submit the full details of your claim within 30 days of returning from your trip. When you start the process, you'll want to make sure you have the requisite information, which will depend on the type of claim you're making.

Let’s go through what these details might include for different claim types:

Medical and dental emergencies

Luggage or personal money claims:

Emergency expenses or travel delays

World2Cover assessment will be based on your policy terms and conditions and individual facts and circumstances.

Is it possible to cancel my World2Cover Travel Insurance policy?

If you decide World2Cover travel insurance is not for you after all, there are two avenues for cancelling. The first is the easiest: you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund if you do so within 21 days of purchasing the policy (so as long as you haven't started your trip or made a claim).

You can still cancel outside the 21 days of cooling off but it's up to World2Cover to assess the circumstance of the request and determine whether any amount will be refunded to you.

Note on the term 'unlimited': Unlimited means that generally there is no cap on the maximum dollar amount which may be paid out of the benefit, subject to the specific terms and conditions, and sub-limits and exclusions apply to this benefit.

I took out a World2Cover policy to cover a ski trip to New Zealand. On my way home from said holiday, the airline failed to load my luggage onto the plane, meaning I was delayed in receiving it. This meant I had no luggage for my next trip which I was taking the following day and as a result had to replace the entire contents of my luggage. Although the policy was advertised as up to '$10,000 cover for lost, stolen or delayed' luggage, World2Cover refused to cover even a proportion of the amount I was owed, even citing in their reasoning section '3C Luggage - If You have to buy essential clothing and personal items during Your Trip because Luggage carried by Your Transport Provider is delayed by more than 10 hours, We will pay up to the limits shown in the table below.' They specified in their reasoning that in fact they only cover lost or damaged luggage, and not delayed. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
