So you want to save more money but are short on ideas? Well, I’m here to give you 25 very different, perhaps even odd ways to save money with the help of Mozo’s content team.

These hack have been trialled, tested and approved by our writers. Hey, they worked for us so why not give them a try!

Your 25 odd money saving hacks start here:

  • Cut open tubes of things and squeeze everything out so you don’t waste any. This should include lip balm.
  • Use bleach instead of fancy cleaning products. One part chlorine bleach and four parts water should kill every grubby grody germ/mould/bad vibe your house has.
  • Quit fabric softener.
  • Use sauce glass jars as containers, vases or pen holders.
  • Buy clearance grocery items like bread (with 1 or 2 days left on the use-by) and freeze them until you need to eat them.
  • Live in your in-laws’ extra property rent free.
  • Dilute the last of your shampoo, body wash and conditioner with water.
  • Wash, reuse and recycle ziplock bags.
  • Same goes for takeaway containers.
  • Never turn on the aircon. Yes this includes your car.
  • Holey sock? Sew it closed. No one will know.
  • Use only half a tissue. Save the rest for later (again, no one will know!).
  • Don’t turn on the lights until the last ray of sunshine is gone.
  • Go shopping late at night to get all the fresh produce on sale.
  • If your work offers free fruit, make it part of your breakfast.
  • Use the dishwasher or washing machine only during off peak hours.
  • Request extra packets of salt and pepper, say goodbye to the salt shakers.
  • Buzz all your hair off, no need to worry about getting haircuts.
  • Don’t forget to use your cashback and points when online shopping.
  • Use Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace for furniture.
  • Borrow your friends’ clothes, forget to give them back.
  • Don’t buy books, use your local library.
  • Get home brand goods rather than big brand names.
  • Sell your old clothes on Depop or Facebook Marketplace.
  • Get a cheaper phone plan.

With these tips, you might save a couple of dollars here and there. But the real question is: where do I stash my extra dollaroos?

A savings account of course!
