Bendigo Bank started out as a building society more than 150 years ago with its roots in two Australian communities, Bendigo and Adelaide. The credit card options available at Bendigo include low-rate, no annual fee, rewards, and Qantas Point cards. Bendigo’s credit cards won the bank three 2024 Mozo Experts Choice Awards.
Low purchase rate
55 days interest free on purchases
Security features (e.g. 24/7 fraud monitoring)
$5 overseas ATM withdrawal fee
No rewards
Bendigo Bank’s Bright Credit Card is a no-frills option and comes with a low purchase rate, solid interest-free period, and good security features. But the lack of a rewards points program might steer those who prefer rewards toward another product.
The Bright Credit card has an 11.9% p.a. purchase rate and an interest-free period of up to 55 days. Currently, this is Bendigo Bank’s lowest credit card rate.
There’s a $59 annual fee, which isn’t bad when you consider how low the purchase rate is. Plenty of other cards with no annual fees in the Mozo database come with higher rates (although, there are some which are cheaper).
Other fees to be aware of include a $5 overseas ATM withdrawal fee for travellers making use of the Bright card’s portability (you can use it anywhere Mastercard is accepted), as well as a 3% foreign exchange fee.
The Bright Credit Card has security features like 24/7 fraud monitoring, no liability for unauthorised transactions, and the ability to temporarily block your card if you lose it, or even block certain transaction types.
With the ability to use your Bright Credit Card to make mobile or smartwatch payments, it has all the hallmarks of a modern credit card, minus the bells and whistles of a rewards card – all with a low interest rate to boot.

Disappointing International Transaction Experience I've been a loyal customer of this bank, regularly spending over $5,000 a month. However, I recently had a frustrating experience with an international transaction. The transaction failed, and while I did get my money back, the bank still charged me international transaction fees for the failed attempt. When I contacted customer service, they said it was because the transaction was "attempted," which doesn't make sense to me. Why should I be charged for a transaction that didn't go through? As someone who has consistently supported this bank, I expected better treatment and a fair resolution. It's disappointing that they prioritize technicalities over customer loyalty. I hope they reconsider their policies regarding failed international transactions and how they treat long-term customers like myself.
I signed up to this bank a couple of years ago and there customer service has been excellent. My credit card was recently hacked and charges put on by an unknown source. They notified me immediately and I was able to order a new card and the bank were able to get the charges reversed, for which I am immensely grateful.
Bendigo bank is big on community spirit and banking local. Most are run by a board of local towns people. Once a year community groups can apply for funding, which the board allocate what funds to which group. Most of the board or their wives or husbands or children are in these “groups” so funding gets allocated to who they choose. It’s very biased and unfair. The fees and charges on all accounts are ridiculous the highest of any bank. I personally would never bank with Bendigo bank again. Once my credit card is paid out that is the last account I have with them to close. I liked the idea of support your local community ect but once I found out how it works, I’m appalled at the behaviour.
