Founded in 1964, UniCredit has been offering financial services to people working and studying in tertiary and post-secondary education, including their families as well as the broader education sector in general. After its merger with Teachers Mutual Bank effective from 1 August 2015, Unicredit became UniBank and continues to offer its members banking products including  credit cards, home loans and personal loans.

To register for an online account, you can simply go on their website, fill up a quick form and then submit it via email, fax or in person. A UniBank credit card comes with up to 55 interest free days on purchases. However, don’t forget that you can avoid paying interest on the purchases balance by paying the full closing balance shown on every account statement by the due date.

You can make tap and go payments with your UniBank credit card. That means you don’t have to swipe, sign or enter your PIN for transactions under $100. You can simply hold your credit card over the reader for a contactless transaction.

You can use your UniBank credit card to make international transactions online or while you’re travelling outside Australia. UniBank cards are accepted in more than 200 countries and territories across the world. But do remember, you may need to pay certain additional charges such as an international transaction fee.

Your UniBank credit card is protected by technology designed to track and detect any possible fraudulent transactions. In case any unusual activity is detected under your account, UniBank will contact you to verify whether you’re aware of it. Others systems to keep your card secure include, a one-time password for making online transactions, encryption to protect your card’s data and access code lock-out in case of too many unsuccessful login attempts.

UniBank lets you authorise a friend or family member as an additional cardholder. The nominated person will be issued with a card of their own but you’ll still be your responsible to meet the repayment obligations.
