IKEA launches solar panels for VIC, QLD and WA customers
If you’ve been on the hunt for the right place to purchase your solar panels from, you might have encountered a few company names you’ve never heard of before...until now.
Aussies living in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth, are now able to get their hands on IKEA’s solar power packages, called SOLSTRÅLE. IKEA is also taking expressions of interest from Aussies in Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide as well.
At the moment, there are two SOLSTRÅLE packages: SOLSTRÅLE Basic and SOLSTRÅLE with Battery.
Each package features a 6.6.kW solar system, while the SOLSTRÅLE with Battery option comes with a 6.5kW lithium battery, allowing households to store any excess electricity.
Customers are also able to add on a smart meter or a micro inverter, though this will bump up the price of the system.
According to IKEA, pricing will depend on your location and the size of your home, with the SOLSTRÅLE Basic package starting at $4,364 in Brisbane and $3,227 in Melbourne.
IKEA CEO and chief sustainability officer, Jan Gardberg explained that the decision to move into solar power was in response to the company’s commitment to helping its customers embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.
“We are able to offer a solar package that is true value for money. We hope this will encourage our customers to live a more sustainable everyday life by removing the barriers to investing in renewable energy,” he said.
