This comprehensive car insurance policy will allow you to cover your wheels at an agreed value or at the standard market value. If Apia can't find one of their certified repairers close to your location or the site of an accident, they'll let you choose your own repairer at no extra cost.
If you want to choose your own excess to drive down the cost of your premium payments, this policy gives you that option. But if repairs won't cut it and your wheels are a write-off, Apia will replace your car with a similar make and model, so long as the original was under 10 years old. This is a pretty generous age limit compared to other offers, with a dollar cap of $40,000. If your property in the vehicle was stolen or damaged, that's covered for up to $1,000 too.
If your car is stolen, Apia covers the costs of your rental for 21 days. However, you’ll have to opt for additional extras if you want Apia to cover the costs of a rental after an accident or if you want roadside assistance as part of your policy.
Other optional extras include 24/7 roadside assistance, and one excess-free windscreen or glass repair or replacement each policy period. Just remember, extras come at an extra cost.
An attractive feature of this comprehensive car insurance policy is its discounts. By taking a quote out online you’re eligible for a 5% discount; no claim bonuses can climb as high as 65%; and you could also cut 10% off your premium if you take out more than one insurance policy with Apia.
Plus, if you drive under 20,000km a year, you may be eligible for further premium reductions with Apia's Drive Less Pay Less discount.
Apia rewards drivers over the age of 50 with cheaper premiums on their insurance policies, so if you’re a little older it's worth getting a quote online. Drivers who don’t rack up many kilometres but still want top quality cover for their car should also consider this policy.

Do not fall for the marketing spiel. These guys are unethical and will ramp up your premium by 30%+ after a years they prey on people who do not notice or are too lazy to change providers. I was told when I joined APIA they did not engage in such practices so moved 3 of my cars across. Such practices are unscrupulous and if the ACCC had any clout they would shut down operators like APIA for gaming the system.

Their assessor is Capitol Smart, which is insurance co. owned but also does smaller repair jobs.. They are pleasant & competent repairers, but it can take up to 2 weeks for an assessment & a start on the repair. They then fitted the new door in one day & did the job perfectly.

I have been with apia now 3 years, renewal is a breeze my monthly payments are very manageable and the customer service I have received is excellent.

When trying to make a claim this company has no respect for SENIORS. The claim portion of the phone is a robot which continually invites you to 'go online and make a claim....' or hold... well I held for 1 hr and 10 mins the 1st day. 50 mins the next day. Then decided to trick the robot and get a person to talk to so went with the sales round and had immediate response from a person. This person says ' ... I can only put you through the claims section...' which of course put me back to the robot loop. I did the trick again and a further immediate PERSON, who repeated the 'only put you through the claims.....' routine. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. "Oh no you cannot speak to a supervisor, only one from claims..." OMG. OK - please put me through to the complaints department, ie. complaints about the company NOT claims. She said "... I can send them an email with your details and what you want and they will email you". OMG so now I'm waiting for an email and wondering when I can get my vehicle fixed!!
