Apia’s Comprehensive Car Insurance gives you flexibility to trim the finer details of your cover to suit your needs while presenting multiple options to drive down your premium. Apia offers motorists a range of discounts including a no claims bonus, multi-policy discount, a discount for taking out your policy online and for drivers who don’t drive very often.

This comprehensive car insurance policy will allow you to cover your wheels at an agreed value or at the standard market value. Unlike many insurance policies, it gives you the peace of mind of handpicking your own repairer should you be involved in an accident. If you want to choose your own excess and drive down the cost of your premium payments, this policy gives you the option to do that too. You can choose an excess between $450 and $1,645 and if your windscreen is damaged, Apia will cover the cost to replace it as a standard feature of its comprehensive car insurance policy.

If your car is stolen, Apia also covers the costs of your rental for 21 days but you’ll have to opt for additional extras if you want Apia to cover the costs of a rental after an accident or if you want roadside assistance as part of your policy.

An attractive feature of its Comprehensive Car Insurance policy, Apia provides its customers with a few options when it comes to discounts. By taking a quote out online you’re eligible for a 5% discount; no claim bonuses can climb as high as 65%; and you could also save on your premium if you take out more than one insurance policy with Apia.

Who is it good for

Apia rewards drivers over the age of 50 with cheaper premiums on their insurance policies, so if you’re a little older it is worth getting a quote online. Drivers who don’t rack up many kilometres but still want top quality cover for their car should consider Apia’s comprehensive car insurance as well. If you drive less than 20,000 kilometres per year you could be up for a discount as large as 23% on your premium or if you prefer to pay on a month-to-month basis you can opt to do that too, at no additional cost.

Just keep in mind if you have any kids listed on the policy that are under the age of 25 and are involved in an accident you could be up for a hefty $1,500 young driver excess.

    Get a quote from APIA. You cant go wrong.

    Four years ago I sought a quote from APIA for comprehensive insurance on my car. Their quote came in about 7% less than any of the other quotes (5) that I received. I took out the policy with them and consequently had a claim for a door of the car being damaged in a car park. This claim was handled very promptly and repairs were carried out less than 7 days later. No cost to me (no excess) and no effect on my no claim bonus. A far better outcome than I expected. I wholeheartedly recommend APIA as the best Insurance Company that I have ever dealt with.

    Stay away from APIA not worth it.

    APIA takes advantage of its elder clients. Just because we are old in age, that doesn’t enable them to take advantage of our mental and physical wellbeing. I have been bullied and pushed around by the APIA claims department and had my claim be delayed with ridiculous hoops to jump. I have been denied services entitled in my policy such as car hire, payment after 14 days if car is not recovered. Instead I’m being treated as if I’m a criminal for having my car stolen. I have met my obligations under my policy, they have failed to meet theirs and play delay tactics, clearly have nothing better to do than just post fictitious 5 star reviews on this site then to finalise it’s customers claims. Avoid this insurer at all costs, the discount is not worth it. You will be bullied, treated like a criminal, made to jump hoops, have your claim delayed and / or declined without proper reasoning or justification and worst yet they call you uncooperative if you challenge their position or ask questions.

    Great team offering great rates for our goods!

    I like my car insurer as they've always been straight with me and walked me through options I've not fully understood (the illness I now have gives me cognitive issues on occasion and other times I'm ok), so the ladies (usually ladies) walk me through until I get it. Those ones are a great asset for the company and that's why I'm happy to shout out for them. I thoroughly would tell my friends (and I do) about them so they too know how good Apia have been with me.
