This comprehensive car insurance policy will allow you to cover your wheels at an agreed value or at the standard market value. If Apia can't find one of their certified repairers close to your location or the site of an accident, they'll let you choose your own repairer at no extra cost.
If you want to choose your own excess to drive down the cost of your premium payments, this policy gives you that option. But if repairs won't cut it and your wheels are a write-off, Apia will replace your car with a similar make and model, so long as the original was under 10 years old. This is a pretty generous age limit compared to other offers, with a dollar cap of $40,000. If your property in the vehicle was stolen or damaged, that's covered for up to $1,000 too.
If your car is stolen, Apia covers the costs of your rental for 21 days. However, you’ll have to opt for additional extras if you want Apia to cover the costs of a rental after an accident or if you want roadside assistance as part of your policy.
Other optional extras include 24/7 roadside assistance, and one excess-free windscreen or glass repair or replacement each policy period. Just remember, extras come at an extra cost.
An attractive feature of this comprehensive car insurance policy is its discounts. By taking a quote out online you’re eligible for a 10% discount; no claim bonuses can climb as high as 65%; and you could also cut 10% off your premium if you take out more than one eligible insurance policy with Apia.
Plus, if you drive under 20,000km a year, you may be eligible for further premium reductions with Apia's Drive Less Pay Less discount.
Apia rewards drivers over the age of 50 with cheaper premiums on their insurance policies, so if you’re a little older it's worth getting a quote online. Drivers who don’t rack up many kilometres but still want top quality cover for their car should also consider this policy.

Customer service was a little mixed as I got onto Online Chat to enquire about different types of Car Insurance, namely Third party fire and Theft. One person cancelled my existing and replaced it with the enquiry quote and I had to get onto someone else to have it reinstated. They were still sending me the new quote details to be insured for awhile which was a little annoying but I did have and activate the Comprehensive policy again for renewal :-) Overall around $100 less for me per year for a car over 20 y.o. The best part is that I do not pay extra to pay by the month :-)

Car ran into me (not at fault) I have a Range Rover alloy panels etc. APIA when I signed up was ‘choice of repairer’ now not. Complained to the complaints department as I went through the terms and conditions. Even the letter they sent me when this happened stating I could select my own repairer. Went to a Land Rover Specialst to check. Not that much difference in price however They send me to a chop shop and they dont care. Guess what got the car back paint is different, wheel was damaged after repair maybe mechanical car wash, door handles did not function properly, internal leather damage on door the must have removed and lent against something. What a mess

I have had Car insurance with APIA for many years and the price increase this year is OUTRAGEOUS. The insured amount had dropped by 10% and the premium has risen by 35% and I have never made a claim. I have now purchased comprehensive Car Insurance with Budget Direct for 38% less than the APIA quote. I tried to leave a review for Car Insurance on the APIA website but while you can read all the "positive" reviews you can't leave a review so what you are reading is very selective.
