Frequently asked questions about Ozicare car insurance

What does an Ozicare car insurance policy cover?

You’ll probably want to know just exactly what kind of cover you’re going to get. So here’s an overview of some of the coverage you’ll receive with an Ozicare comprehensive policy:

  • A new car if yours is written off (conditions apply)
  • Personal property
  • Windshield damage
  • Transport and accommodation costs in an emergency
  • A hire car after having yours stolen
  • Replacement keys
  • Baby seats

Keep in mind that conditions apply to many of these benefits and you should always read your PDS carefully.

Are there any exclusions I should know about?

Like most car insurance policies, there are some things that aren’t covered with Ozicare. Some are general exclusions, such as accidents that happen when:

  • You’re driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • An unlicensed driver is driving your car
  • Your car is unsafe to drive
  • You’re using your car to make money (e.g. as a rideshare)

Others are more specific exclusions under an Ozicare policy, including:

  • No coverage for rental car liability
  • No accidental death cover for drivers

What excess option should I go for?

As with most car insurers, you can choose a low or high premium option when you buy a policy with Ozicare. One thing to keep in mind is that if you opt for lower excess, then you’ll get a bigger pay out if you ever have to make a claim, but you will pay higher premiums upfront.

On the other hand, if you opt for high excess, then you’ll pay a lower premium up front, but if you ever do have an accident, your claim will cover less of the costs.

How is my premium calculated?

Your car insurance premium generally reflects the likelihood that you will make a claim in the future - the more likely you are to claim, the more you’ll pay.

Insurers work this out based on a number of different factors. Some of the things used to determine your Ozicare car insurance premium include:

  • the make and model of your car
  • your age and driving history
  • where you live
  • where you park the car at night
  • how often you’ve made claims in the past

How can I pay my premium?

It’s handy to have some flexibility with paying your premium, so you can better fit it into your budget. With Ozicare, you can opt to pay all in one lump, annual sum, or you can pay in monthly instalments. But if you choose the monthly option, keep in mind you’ll pay extra for the convenience.

What discounts are available?

Another way to make your car insurance premium fit into your budget a little better? Discounts. At Ozicare, make sure to cash in on your no claims discount.

How to make a claim

Generally speaking, there are a few things you should make sure you have so that car insurance claims go as smoothly as possible. These include:

  • The details of your car insurance policy, including a policy number.
  • The contact details of anyone else involved in the accident.
  • The registration number and a description of any other vehicles involved.
  • If there were witnesses to the accident, try to get their contact details as well.
  • It’s also a good idea to take photos of the accident, where possible, which include details like the condition of your car, or the road.

To make a claim on your Ozicare car insurance, you’ll need to call the customer service phone line.

Poor claim accessor team.

Their claims team is not responding to emergency repairs and they don’t have any SLA for any emergency claim. I am chasing them for an emergency claim to fix my car and they are not replying. They don’t understand the critical situation where we are expecting a baby any day we need our car fixed. I have taken all quotes and everything but they don’t have to review. I will go to fix but I was just requesting to review and approve but everyday I call them and they just say we are looking on priority but we don’t have any SLA. Then why do you guys call it an emergency fix?
