What is included in Budget Direct’s pet insurance policy?

Budget Direct pet insurance offers a standard selection of automatic benefits, such as accident and illness cover.

Check out the table above to see more detail about what to expect from a Budget Direct pet insurance policy. Make sure you also dig into Budget Direct’s product disclosure statement (PDS) for the full policy terms and conditions.

What exclusions apply to Budget Direct pet insurance?

Like all pet insurance policies, there are a few general exclusions that your Budget Direct won’t cover you for, including pre-existing conditions, intentional neglect or harm, and breed-specific conditions.

Furthermore, there are waiting periods you must adhere to after purchasing your policy, and these can differ based on what you’re claiming for. Coverage can also be denied if you miss a premium payment.

Always read the PDS for a more detailed understanding of Budget Direct’s exclusions.

How do I make a claim with Budget Direct pet insurance?

To make a claim through Budget Direct, you can simply lodge your claim online or download the claim form and email or post it in. Just follow this link where you’ll find information on both methods. You should aim to lodge your claim as soon as possible, along with relevant evidence, such as vet’s assessments, invoices, or receipts.

Your vet may also email a copy of the invoice and any clinical notes to claims@pet.budgetdirect.com.au on your behalf.

Budget Direct aims to assess your claims within 2-5 business days of receiving all necessary evidence. Your benefits will be paid based on the percentage agreed, minus any excess (as outlined in your PDS).

Can I cancel my Budget Direct pet insurance?

You can cancel your Budget Direct pet insurance policy any time by notifying Budget Direct through the Budget Direct website, email, or phone number. If you cancel your policy within the 21-day cooling off period, you’ll receive a full refund.

If you cancel after 21 days, you’ll receive a pro-rated refund for any amount that would have covered you after the cancellation date. However, you may be assessed a $40 cancellation fee unless your pet has died.

Be sure to read the Budget Direct PDS for the full terms and conditions.
