Does Zoom travel insurance have COVID-19 cover?

Zoom provides cover for COVID-19 across the following international travel insurance policy benefits:

These COVID-19 benefits are only applicable outside of Australia, as Australian citizens have access to Medicare.

For more information, including the types of claims eligible for cover and any exclusions, have a look at the Zoom travel insurance PDS.

What optional extras can I add to my Zoom travel insurance policy?

Zoom Travel Insurance offers a wide range of optional extras that you can purchase to tailor your cover to the kinds of activities you are participating in, or to fill in the blanks where their standard policies don’t provide the cover you want.

These optional extras include:

For details about what each of these optional extras includes and excludes, and to find out if you’ll need them for your trip, check out the Zoom travel insurance PDS.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under Zoom travel insurance?

When it comes to getting cover for your pre-existing medical conditions with Zoom travel insurance, you will need to declare any medical conditions that you have and complete an online medical screening.

Cover for pre-existing medical conditions is at the discretion of Zoom, so you’ll need to wait to hear back from them in writing.

If your medical condition is covered, you may have to pay an extra premium on top of your base travel insurance premium.

What do I do if there’s an emergency during my trip?

For 24-hour emergency assistance while you’re on your trip you can call Zoom’s team on +61 2 8776 3010.

How do I make a claim with Zoom travel insurance?

There are a few ways to make a claim with Zoom Travel Insurance, your choice of which depends on the nature of your claim.

If you are making a medical or emergency claim, then you will need to call First Assistance on +61 2 8015 6261. It’s best to do this as soon as possible, so they can assist with your care

If your claim is general or about lost or stolen luggage and personal effects, then you can email info@travelclaimscentre.com

When making a claim, you’ll need to have the documents ready to provide evidence of your claim’s validity. That means in the event of luggage theft, for example, you’ll need a copy of a police report that you will have filed the moment you knew your stuff was gone.

You can also submit a claim with Zoom Travel Insurance online, at https://www.zoomtravelinsurance.com.au/claims

You’ll need to submit your claim as soon as possible or within 30 days of returning to Australia.

For more information on claims, make sure you read through the Zoom Travel Insurance PDS.

Is it possible to cancel my Zoom travel insurance policy?

If you need to cancel your travel insurance policy with Zoom, there’s a 14-day cooling-off period with a money-back guarantee.

After the cooling-off period, however, you may only be eligible for a partial refund of your premium for the unexpired period of cover. Plus, there will likely be a $25 admin fee.

To cancel your cover, head online to the Zoom online policy manager.

We experienced flooding whilst in Europe in December which caused our train journey from London to Glasgow to be abandoned in Preston. We had to then get local accomodation and a hire car to complete our trip to Glasgow. Zoom denied our claim because a single bus was provided in Preston to continue the journey. When we arrived in Preston there were over 1000 people ahead of us in the bus queue and we were advised to make other travel arrangements by Preston Station staff. Despite this the claim was denied. I couldnt recommend you avoid Zoom Insurance more strongly. Its doesn't have any value.

We were booked on a cruise and 3 days before we were due to leave my husband got sick and ended up in hospital. I rang the insurance company and they asked for confirmation from our doctor and as soon as I have sent them my doctors certificate they immediately issued us a cheque for all the amount we had paid.
